Every now and then I try Hanzo on BoE map to do some races. Thing is it feels like if you pick W build on that map you will have 0 dmg against players and 0 dmg against PvE.
A Puny Li-Ming orb is one of the most brainless abilities and when it hits a squishy it does 50% hp. But when you perfectly place a quest complete W to hit ALL arrows on a squishy it barely does 5-10% of hp.
Same on boss, you hit a solid W and do very little dmg, a Valla or a Li-Ming does a puny Q or Orb they shred the boss down as if i’m doing 4 W that’s on a 8 sec CD.
From what I know, W build is his best, but also hardest.

Yea W is more advanced than Q or auto attack, you really need to understand the map angles, be where the action is and get the quest done by mid game. Many of the pro level Hanzo’s go W.
The level 16 talent piercing arrows really gives W a nice dmg boost.
Great to practice W in ARAM.

W build isn’t useless vs. squishies- with quest done an angle shot can kill an 75% hp assassin instantly.
It isn’t useless against boss. With cd reduction he can do boss with 1 tank or healer in around 10 seconds.
It’s one of the hardest assassin builds in the game. If not the hardest

Hanzo’s W build has a very high skill ceiling. You need to have an incredible grasp of positioning, scenery, and other factors to make Hanzo’s shotgun arrows work not just effectively but consistently.
So, if you ever meet someone who can effectively use it I would be afraid if I was you, that skill is capable of chunking if not outright deleting heroes when used right.
Also, a bit of history, it used to be absurdly overpowered against mercs back when Never Outmatched procced on merc camps and may have also procced on minions as well. The only heroes that could take camps faster than him were those that had Bribe as a talent.
