Is EU harder then NA

We all know the joke that one GM from aus is gold in NA because of the fewer players

EU has a bigger playerbase. So I have no experience in the other servers. Is EU harder then NA?

In my experience yes. I play on both since my ping is acceptable on both servers. Some EU plats put up as much of a fight as low masters on US.

Only Korean games are harder than EU and they had a tendency to beat EU teams in HGC as well.

Koreans are insane :stuck_out_tongue: because thats basicly their life. Im wondering how it is in NA but I lack motivation to start over

I played games on both region.
I played with friends from both regions.
I found that EU players are better.
And among the HGC teams, EU was the winner a lot of times and NA had the worst stats.

Thereā€™s no reliable evidence supporting that idea. Itā€™s mainly confirmation bias and NA memes

And on EU you have far more games for the matchmaker to reliably place you against players of your skill level

Their experiences donā€™t prove anything though

Self reported data (especially when in this situation it is very dependent on the ā€œfeelā€ of the experience) is far from objective and is very vulnerable to bias from popular opinion (which is that NA is bad).

On top of that, there is quite a small sample size

If 9/10 will claim eu is harder then Na who do you believe?

not just hots

sc2 ladder is ~5x harder to climb on europe compared to usa, and i played the game on both since 2010 (i am in bakersfield, california)

sample size thousands on both, could not try korea since my ping is 100+

  3. Most people havent played a similar amount of games on both regions

A far more effective way to tackle this would be:

  • Collect a large number of players from EU and NA, who have reasonable ping on both servers.
  • Have each player start a new account on both realms, and level each account up to a given level, playing similar heroes on both servers.
  • Finally, compare their final MMRs on both servers, relative to their actual region

But even this approach has a few issues

  • Free hero rotations being different, because of a player not leveling both accounts gradually together and instead sticking with one, then the other. This could affect the kind of games they get. If they level NA, then move to EU and butcher is free that week and their new player teammates feed nonstop, that leads to issues.
  • Players might play differently, depending on what server they think theyā€™re on (even subconsciously)
  • Hard to get a representative sampling of players to agree to partake in the study (just forum players wonā€™t do.)
  • MMR is hidden to people other than blizzard
  • And probably others I canā€™t think of off the top of my head

Still, it would be far more reliable than surveying

HGC already proved realm superiority many times.

  1. South Korea
  2. EU
  3. NA
  4. ANZ and South America

And I have no problem with that even though Iā€™m from a region on the bottom of the table.

I played on my NA account for the first time in ages recently and queued for ranked, got matched in a mid diamond game. Itā€™s tomb of the spiderman and I show Illidan, my teammate first picks samuro so there goes(maybe) my illidan pick. Second phase picks my other teammate picks the butcher, at this point im just calmig myself from tilting(thinkinā€¦itā€™s NA lul, maybe they are serious). No words are being said in chat except me giving them an appropriate ā€˜:slight_smile:ā€™ so Iā€™m thlnking maybe they actually are dead serious. As an adaptive EU player that I am I last pick tassadar to try save the draft, enemy draft looking somewhat normal. I cant recall exactly how but the enemy team got destroyed, being outclassed in both micro and rotations. So yeah this was one of my NA expertiences lately and lets just say I wont be visiting the lands any time soon again :slightly_smiling_face:(just when I say this EU servers die darnitā€¦)

I get it that you feel attacked by this, cuz youā€™re NA, but there is some evidence. HGC. NA was weaker in it than both EU and Asia.

But I saw what EU and NA masters, diamonds, plats and others feel like.
EU rank = NA+1
NA rank = EU-1

If Iā€™d be from NA I wouldnā€™t care, nor I would mind if NA would be better, because the averages doesnā€™t define the individuals.
