What do you think? With a small pool of heroes likely remaining in the hots dev cycle I’d still love to see him, but there’s other wow/diab/sc heroes i’d like to see first…
on this one i would say very unlikely. there are bigger names they will want to add. so its not likely something they are going to do anytime soon imo.
I mean, never say never. I wouldn’t have called Whitemane very likely. If they’re planning to add another Classic hero, Blackthorne seems like the obvious pick.
Well, they did remove the “Blizzard Classics” category, so that certainly doesn’t look good for him.
Never ever just like Banjo.
They said he was on the list. So we’ll see him sooner or later.
Their time for making generic to no-name heroes are over. They need star power moving forward. Best chance of another low key hero release is if it was already created in the most recent development cycle before the cadence announcement.
However, the the higher ups most likely knew way in advance of that announcement and probably started pushing for heroes with some name recognition, hence the recent reveal of Imperius… and then probably Mei next
I’m still disappointed you didn’t say Mei in the “Your favorite HoTS mount” thread. My day was ruined.
I have no objection to a mount where you ride on Mei
its not exactly ‘removed’ so much as ‘relabeled’. there are just so few that they condensed it into ‘nexus’ heroes. if they brought him to the game then he would just be a ‘nexus hero’.
though lets at least get him under his correct name right?
its Kyle Vlaros.
Actually, they un-removed it. TLV are back to having a pixelated B as their symbol while Orphea still has the HotS logo. They switched it back at some point between Orphea’s PTR and her release. There’s hope yet.
We literally have one classic hero out of 85(ish) characters…“likely” is not a word I’d use to describe anything outside of the 4 main universes at any point in time past maybe the first year of heroes
Neither do I ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Generic to no-name?
You must be young. Blackthorne was one of Blizzard’s biggest titles, along with Rock and Roll Racing.
If it wasn’t for those two game, you’d never have seen Diablo, Warcraft 1, and Starcraft. And eventually, your beloved Mei.
How could you be this wrong. Mei would have willed herself into existence. Blizz exists because of Mei not the other way around.
He will be the last. We will get four months to play him and then the servers will be closed.
Kyle from Blackthorne would feed nostalgia quite well (we’ve all played it after all, right? right?). A warrior from d1 with a 255 charge hacked staff of apoc would come in close 2nd.
I do love Blackthorne, and I think its protagonist should be in this game, sepecially 'cause it was “the first Blizzard game” (first game published after they renamed themselves to Blizzard).
However, I can’t agree on that “we would have never seen Warcraft 1” statement.
The two games (Blackthorne and Warcraft) released a few months appart. It’s very likely Warcraft was already well into development when Blackthorne was released, and WC would have been published regardless.
To adress the OP question: I never thought his release was “likely” (always figured it was a possible, but unlikely situation), but I still haven’t given up hope.
Make 2019 Year of the Classics!
My logic is that their new IP minus OW is really taking a backlash and rn blizz seems to be reverting to rehashing their old products (sc remaster, wc3 remaster, wow original) rather than making anything new that can hold a candle to their old projects.
So since nostalgia is in since their new activision hybrid company can’t deliver on new products maybe they will go for the blackthorns throwback w some promotion of bliss mobile/classic type games… (I died a little when I said mobile btw)
I don’t know why everyone all of a sudden thinks that heroes just wont release stuff.
The devs were working a full year in advance. It’s likely they’ll spread hero releases meant for 2019 across two years instead.
