Can we get the way Celestial Charge is targeted tweaked?
Celestial Charge is basically a narrow AoE. However, unlike (to my knowledge) all other AoEs in the game, Celestial Charge’s AoE is not centered around the mouse cursor. Instead, the mouse cursor is at the near edge of the AoE splat.
To my knowledge, this is the only ability in the game, AoE or otherwise, that works like this. All other AoE splats are centered around the mouse cursor (unless the cursor moves out of cast range), and only Celestial Charge has the AoE splat with only its side touching the mouse cursor.
Can we get this changed to function like other AoE’s, please?
Nah, it makes a lot more sense the way it is now. You know exactly that the stun area is at start of the stun - very intuitive. You stun everything in front of the cursor, so you aim behind all your targets (+ lead for delay, timing) - very convenient.
If cursor was at the very tip of the skillshot, you’d basically have to know by heart the stun area length, as you would still want to hit with as close to start of the stun as possible (well at least for situations where you want to skewer more than one target) - waay worse than it is now, as you would still be aiming the start of the stun, but in this case you would not have a visual indicator for it.
And if it was centered in the stun area - well that’s the worst scenario, as you would have to mentally draw the stun area in both directions and have no useful indicator at all…
That doesn’t make any sense. It hits where you expect it to hit, always.
Situations where heroes seem to be “pulled” from the side happen due to the “fat” hero circles (that are visually much larger than the character model). After all, even 1 pixel overlap between skillshot and circle is a hit. Hits are not registered based on character models, so there will NEVER be perfect visual “sense”. And that applies to every single skillshot in the game (e.g., you can hit a stormbolt way to the side of the character model and it will still register and stun, as long as it at least touches the circle). You do get perfect alignment and sense when you stop thinking about 3d models and just think in 2d circles and areas - because that’s what the game actually is. And it’s not exactly hard to do, because all of this information is always visible in the game (unlike shooter games for example where there’s no way to ever see the hitbox visually…).
That’s no more intuitive than it being in the center, and I would argue that because every other AoE is targeted from the center, Celestial Charge is actually counterintuitive.
If it were merely a skillshot, I would agree with you, but it isn’t. It’s an AoE, so it should be targeted like one.
Um, no?
Unless you use quick-cast, you can clearly see the AoE splat.
And if you use quick-cast for an AoE ability, then you already need to have a pretty firm grasp of the AoE’s dimensions regardless of how it’s targeted. If you can’t visualize the AoE without the splat, then you shouldn’t be using quick-cast anyway.
Of course I use quick cast, how else would you play hots, especially for last ability in a combo sequence (WEQ)…
Center makes absolutely no sense at all.
Its a unique ability with targetting optimized for it, and it IS 100% optimized. If you’re unwilling to learn to use it, that’s literally just your personal problem. Maybe just don’t play imperius then.
a better QoL is to make it to where people can’t interupt your Q so you can get value from your lv1 Q talent AND the extra damage they take at the end of a Q channel
A better QoL is to make it to one shot 100 to 0 someone with Q charge imperius also with a splash damage where also will kill everyone around the targed in a 10 yard radius, also players killed with Q charge will get their accounts deleted and the game going to unistall automatically
E should be the last ability in that combo, not Q.
You save E for once you’ve actually landed the Q so you don’t waste ticks by triggering it too early and you don’t waste mana if you miss the Q.
What on earth are you on about?
First, center-targeting would make this ability consistent with every other ability in the game and makes it less wonky to cast at point-blank range, so it makes perfect sense.
Targeting it from the base is what makes no sense – it’s inconsistent with all other AoEs in the game and it unnecessarily reduces the margins you have to work within while targeting it point-blank.
Second, there are plenty of other “unique” AoE abilities in this game that don’t need some special targeting mechanic that makes the ability less intuitive and reliable just for the sake of being “unique.”
Third, the word “optimized” is utterly meaningless in this context because this isn’t a matter of optimization. There are no values to compare and contrast.
Fourth, you don’t need to have mained Imperius for nearly 300 games and acquired a firm understanding of all of Imperius’ ins and outs to see that this targeting mechanic is silly and poorly thought out… But oh, by the way, I’ve done exactly that.
Save your L2P accusations for people who know less about the hero than you do.
