Medivh, Hanzo, Genji, and Tassadar are hard to play, and their win rates are below 45%.
Alarak is meant to be a difficult hero, yet his win rate is in the middle of the pack.
I think it’s about time the community acknowledges how broken this hero is. He’s the #1 most banned hero in the top levels of play, and I’m surprised it’s only happening now considering he’s been this way since his last rework in early 2018. Even more perplexing is the movement speed change is supposed to hurt him, but no it didn’t.
His kit is way too good even with the punishing death mechanic. CC, high damage, sustain, mobility, and survivability. He has almost no counters and you cannot draft against him. Any squishy who gets close to him will get pulled, silenced, and 2/3 of their health taken away. You can CC him but he’ll just counterstrike and make him unstoppable. You can gank him and he’ll just W away. I can think of Raynor as a good counter since he’s entirely autoattack based, but even so a pull and a silence will mean a death since a smart team can follow it up.
And all of those heroes were at some point completely broken in terms of balancing and had insane pick/ban rates. Some relied on specific compositions that simply went out of fashion in favour of newer hero releases and more attractive game play possibilities.
Low % does necessarily mean bad, at this point they’re just played played less so statistically there are less exemplary players to increase those numbers.
Tassadar is also next in line for the rework, which will hopefully widen the array of heroes he can be paired with, and not rely on sticking with fast/heavy autoattackers to be of any use.
Hanzo is still a fine and versatile pick, but it took them too long to get him in order as he was too strong for a hero with little to no exploitable weakness.
He is hard to play and ez to screw up.So many ppl who try to play him see that they suck especially when compared to those alarak that have more dmg then their whole 4 teammates and give up. I know ill never be as good as they so i sure as hell wont even try.
Same for KZ. You see you suck and either give up or try extra hard. There is noting in between with these 2. You master em or you got under 40% wn. I have 20% with KZ
He is one of those heroes that are played only by ppl who are RLY good at him.Its why tlv is on the top of wn quite often. He SUCKS for most ppl. So they dont play him. His high wn is held up only by ppl who mastered him.
Misconception. He’s not hard to play, but rather high risk. His difficulty comes from knowing when to commit, and punished harshly when wrong (well, usually anyway).
Hanzo doesn’t have the same level of risk, but he is actually hard to use effectively. Medievh carries risk, but only until he finishes his quest, then he can play a bit more aggressive.
I do find him quite broken tbh, and those others you mentioned feel really weak outside of diamond +, where they are essentially just balanced. All those are essentially sh*t in quickplay due to the bad comps, while that’s exactly where Alarak is best.
Because they’re all pretty much garbage, with the exception of when they’re in the hands of a tiny handful of players who have dedicated hundreds of hours to mastering them inside and out.
What, did you actually believe the tier lists saying they were all “S-tier?”
He thinks Hanzo is balanced at a 45% winrate and Genji is balanced at a 42% winrate.
He seems to have a very… different understanding of what “balanced” means from the rest of us. Well, maybe not all of the rest of us, I imagine he’d get along quite nicely with Fail and Wombat.
Stats don’t lie. They’re all significantly underperforming, literally 1st, 7th, 8th, and 9th from the bottom according to HeroesProfile. For the vast majority of players, picking these heroes significantly reduces their team’s chances of winning.
You may be an excellent Medivh player, Darak may be a great Genji, and DrLogan may be a master at Tassadar, but you three are the exceptions, and your own good performance cannot compensate for all they other players who cannot get that same level of value from these heroes.
Why do you think they buffed Tassadar recently? DrLogan had a 60% winrate, but that doesn’t change the fact that Tass’ overall winrate was consistently at 40%.
Hopefully they’ll do the same for Hanzo and Genji and Medivh at some point to make them more accessible…
What website are you using for your data? Also what rank and over what period of time? After telling us the website, what ranks you were checking out and over what period of time, can you tell us the popularity of Alarak in that league AND where these winrates actually stack in comparison to other heroes in that league? Because saying “50% is middle of the pack” doesn’t mean anything if that hero is bottom 10 heroes for winrates in that league (This is a phenomena that happens especially in Master League due to master games often including diamonds).
Great, bring in valid metrics to argue with instead of just throwing random numbers with no reference then.
based on what? when? where? Is top levels of play diamond and master to you? just masters? Pro play? PROVIDE A REFERENCE!
Based on what? just saying “you cannot draft against him just trust me bro” doesn’t tell us anything.
Across what measure of time? Also this is an invalid metric. Looking at a characters’ stats overall across all leagues tells you NOTHING about his performance in skilled play, especially when you consider that about ~91% of the playerbase is Platinum or below, ~8% are in Diamond and ~1% are in Masters.
Even hotslogs was not entirely accurate and heroesprofile is worse than hotslogs was.
Stats don’t lie… if you’re using them in the right context.
Something is balanced not when everyone can play well with it, but when their highest potential is not far above of the other Heroes’ highest potentials.
Balance is not about what you or the majority can or can’t… balance is about what’s possible or not.
So I take it you agree with the OP that Alarak is “OP,” too?
How about Butcher?
Probius?
Guess I’ll have to inform the Li Ming and Imperius players their favorite underperforming character gets to stay at the bottom of the charts because they’re just too good at them.
