That fake teaser from a while back really got me thinking about what a classic update could be. It would be awesome to get blackthorne as a hero. Maybe get some rock and roll racer cars as mounts to. Tons of skin possibilities aswell.

Don’t have a source handy ATM, might look for one later and edit it in, but…
There were threads on reddit discussing supposed leaks for two events in HotS:
One was the Overwatch cosplay, for which the leaks included the Reinhardt-skin Johanna emoji where she’s whirling her flail around, and the Reaper-Valla one where she’s spinning around doing her heroic.
The other was a “classics” themed event that aparently includes skins for Raynor and Rehgar. The thread included animated emoji for classic-rehgar and TLV.
Since (datamined references to) both of those events were mentioned in the same thread, I’d say we can assume one being accurate also “confirms” the other.
Not exactly a “classic games” event in the sense of “stuff that was here before warcraft”, but it seems we are getting a classic event… Whenever the next season rolls out, I suppose.
I too hope for a hero to be released in relation to such an event. Blackthorne has been my most-wanted hero since I started playing HotS.

Next season wont be for a couple of months at least but thats pretty cool to hear nonetheless.

Note that the reddit thread was created (and seen by some of us) long before the event was even in PTR (almost a month ago actually), so it’s not a case of taking the emoji’s from the OW event and adding some made up ones for a fake leak, or something.
EDIT: I want that Sillicon and Synapse logo emoji! (even though I probably won’t actually use it

All of the textures in that Reddit thread are 100% legit datamined data.
Again though there’s were fake content build up around april, all of this was designed around these datamines from October last year (As I’ve specified in your linked thread)
And yes if it needs a double confirmation, there’s a classic event happening but we don’t know when.

I loved Sami’s fake teaser, it’s just something I wish existed. Although I love the classic event look, I’d be happy with any kind of event that is a “real” event. What I mean is, not just a changed background and themed skins, but the classic events which included a quest line or even the older events that had mini games before a game started.
Perhaps they don’t have the funding for such things, but I still miss having them in the game, they were very special and I have fond memories of them all.
