I just played hogger on aram and

i almost never play him so i suck at him, played very bad, died a lot, i had no idea what do to with him, just throwed skills randomly hoping something hit… , yet i got a lot of hero dmg and siegue dmg (almost 70k), and got brawler… yea he is strong, if someone knows how to play him is op than other bruisers

I feel like he’d be op if he was in a tight enclosed environment
But there again that’s what he’s good at

He’s good creating chaos in tight environment. He’s basically the Junkrat of bruiser heroes. But his duel potencial is worse compared to other bruisers.

He is broken, and is capable of healing more than most healers if you go the build I do. He’s beyond busted if you know how to abuse his techs, of which he has several.

Tech #1) You can launch yourself in a direction of your choice when using hoardapult. This tech requires you to throw hoardapult into the enemy’s backline with the arrow pointing towards your team. So if you’re throwing it straight left, make sure the arrow is pointing straight right. When you land, throw a regular loot hoard parallel to the hoardapult and start bouncing back and forth between both of them with hogg wild for MASSIVE damage.

If at any point you feel this is too risky or you’re taking too much damage, you can simply cancel your regular loot hoard and Hogg wild will take you back to your team safely.

Tech #2) The Hogger Triple tap as I like to call it. With the 7 talent ‘Dense Blasting Powder’ not only does it split it into three smaller ones, but if you hit someone directly with it, it will bounce behind them. If you throw a dynamite directly ontop of someone and then knock them back with staggering throw, they’re guaranteed to get hit by the bouncing dynamite because the distance of the knockback perfectly mirrors the launch distance of the dynamite.

With the level 1 dynamite talent ‘Journeyman Cooking’ this combo will also heal you for 16% of your maximum health against just a single target.

Tech #3) Hogg wild can be used parallel to walls to make you go double the distance if you need to escape or chase. You can line hogg wild up almost completely straight against walls and you’ll go twice as far.

#4) This isn’t really a tech, but ‘Secret Stache’ 20 is one of the most broken talents in the game, and I would consider it a 100% mandatory pick if you’re going dynamite build.

The dynamite’s launched by this talent do benefit from talents, including the heal on 1, bounce on 7, and the extra damage and CDR from 16.

Throwing hoardapult into an enemy team full of melees who will collapse on you, this talent makes you invincible. With the dynamite healing you for 8% of your max health per hit combined with the constant meat the cache shoots out, I’d be SHOCKED if you died to a melee heavy team with this talent.

I think a lot of people overboard over his statistics but the harsh truth about Hogger as someone who play him frequently is that his damage is random and majority of times isn’t directive, the epitome of a stat padder like Orb Liming.

You can play him like a zoner with stuns acting as Diablo, pressure with your terrain trait and poke with Dynamite but his abilities are difficult if you cannot predict where they are going, extremely powerful in the right hands though, although however he’s mostly picked as an offlaner and primarily on infernal shrines to act as the meat grinder for the objectives.

He loses to most bruiser fights because like was said, his damage is random.

Anyways I’d go into full details, but I’ve made a guide during times of his release, which surprisingly still valid with all the nerfs.

Also word of advice, Hogger is bad on ARAM because due how open the maps are, but if you pick him, just go Dynamite build, normally I refrain from taking the level 7 for being a total meme but it works well considering the nature off ARAM.

Ok the build link is outdated, here’s a better version of what I pick.

Small note for context:

Bones to Gnaw in solo lane braxis most of the time, On the Prowl offlaning and Journeyman cooking in the 4-man.

Secret Stash should only be picked if you have the level 1 W heal, else this heroic is absolutely dumpster fire, makes you extremely tanky, if you don’t pick W1 then No Control is default with certain cases where No Control is suicide or you take too much damage (example: seven sided strike kharazim shuts you down hard) then Anger Management is the pick, having more CDR and rage allows for better DPS and this talent complements well with On the Prowl rage decay freezing mechanic.

In terms of raw numbers, Hogger is the 8th best hero according to replay stats. It’s pretty clear by playing him that nobody at Blizzard bothered playtesting him at all. You will routinely get highest hero damage without really trying, and the near-permanent immunity to CC makes you unafraid of anything.
