I just got an account warning

https://ibb.co/q9Mwy5H

Action Taken: Warning
Violation: Non-participation
Refusing to participate in a game, including but not limited to being absent (AFK), creates a disadvantage for your allies and spoils the game for both teams. These actions violate our rules of the game

i just got an account warning for non participation wich is a lie, i always play and i never go afk in a game, but there is some games that rarely i got blamed because when we are behind in experience, i just go to lanes and farm xp.

In fact, I think a little while ago that someone believed that I was afk because I was simply not going to contest the objetive, because I thought that was not a good idea, the enemy team had a level advantage, so I pinged them to retreat but they said that reported me for afk, so I thought it was ridiculous that it was not beeing afk, that it is simply the best strategy, that is done, you do not always have to fight all the objectives, but what a surprise I found that they really reported me and now I have a warning, but is a nasty lie, because i play every game, i have a decent winrate and i never go afk to purposelymake lose my team

there’s a couple reasons why they reported you, even though there is no right or wrong actions. Straight up from my thinking is that you don’t care much about giving any effort to try to win something for that situation.

There can be so many variables of not doing objectives and usually one of them is timing. But just because your one level down does not mean you give up or the opposing team is already have their level 10 reached with ulties ready to use and your at level 8 or 9. You still have a chance to win objectives even if your more than two level’s down, cause you got to bait the other team to make the first move by using their ultimate skill or throw them off of their position.

It dont’ matter about your win rate or not, cause it affects everybody and it doesn’t show the individual of skill play. You just need to build some confidence in your self that you need to have some hope to pull something off even if it’s a bad pick.

100% of the games I have played when my team is at a level disadvantage, we fight we all end up dying, it is a very poor strategy to think and wait for the enemy team to make a mistake to win a fight that in theory was already lost, It is a very bad strategy and very bad advice, because if we lose and everyone in our team dies that will increase the level gap between your team and the enemy team, if they are at a disadvantage it is much better to play conservative and avoid dying and give more xp to the enemy, than to fight mindlessly and wait for the enemy to screw up

of course it matters, a low winrate means ur not very good and u lose a lot, even if u have a good teammates in ur team and ur bad u will end up losing a lot (under 40% wr), but if ur agood player and u have a good teammates you will win a lot (around 60% wr), but if ur good, and u sometimes have bad players, u will still have a decent winrate (above 50%)

You didn’t get the warning because of that one game. It takes many reports.

Apart from OP’s situation , at least the salt lords saying afk does not matter have their answer now.

Afk/ nonpart is not automatic. Offensive chat is.

Does it tell you which game generated the reports? Like a date and map played?

my guess is OP is the kind of player who gives up and goes laning the whole game until they lose. we’ve all seen the type. you do this often enough people will report you for non-participation, and they’re right to do so, because you’re not participating. laning is all well and good, but we all know the difference between soaking exp and just laning to avoid getting booted from the game for afk.

you lose 100% of the objectives you don’t show up for. And there are times when you want to skip an objective, but there is a bit of a “mob rule” to the game - never underestimate the power of a stupid idea carried out by a large group.

Sit in the base AFK for 20s while the game has already started and people are brawling in middle lane and you will be reported. Since Blizzard forces players to play this report mini game, I do this, too. Too many times I got reported for abusive chat text. Now I report anyone that is not moving when the game has already started. No matter if he moves 10s later. Welcome to HoTs where Blizzard cares more about the reporting system than about the actual game!

such a report is meaningless if that person goes on to play normally. but grats on the tantrum, bro.

The system is automated dude, as are the abusive chat reports. If a certain number of reports are ramped up in a certain time, you will get those warnings. Do you think that someone of Blizzard sits there and will check the reports manually, then look into the replay, fast forward the match and check when and where this person might have been AFK? Dream on.

the system is indeed automated, and part of the automation process for afk/non-participation is comparing your in game stats to averages. unless your stats are way off the averages, the reports don’t do anything.

Haha, yeah average numbers. I get it. Like Blizzard tells you even if you died 15 times and did nothing in the game “Congratulations, you did well, you participated in 3 kills while the average player only participates in 2 kills.” Or gives the weakest player in your team MVP that actually also ruined the win for you with his crappy play at the 30 minutes mark when you could have rushed the core and won the game.

When this game told me one thing it is this: Blizzard has absolutely no clue about numbers and stats. They can’t mix players with similar skills (not even similar numbers of matches played), their MMR is the most broken thing I have ever seen, hero reworks and new hero releases are either completely op or up, because after all those years Blizzard still doesn’t understand damage, health, armor etc. numbers.

As long as people get banned if they get reported for afk or toxic chat enough times is good enough to know.

Except that’s not true. Your team might handily take the objective without you.

In any case, blanket statements about showing up or not are a bit silly. There are so many things to consider. Is it a x/3 or similarly ‘fuzzy’ objective (like in Cursed Hollow) or a one-shot objective like in Towers of Doom (if the former, can you afford to let this one slide in favor of more experience)? Is this early, mid, or late game? If there is a level deficit, is it 1, 2, or 3+ levels behind? Does the other team have a talent tier on you, especially heroic/storm? How is the synergy and relative abilities within and between the teams so far? Etc.

It really is a judgment call.

how can you tell the difference between someone not caring and someone being bad

Both are bad and the first one is a douche on top of it.
