I Fought Illidan as Arthas For the First Time

Illidan is one of those characters that I tend to be very careful about confronting. Recently however I made efforts to pick up Arthas and in doing so I found myself in a 1 v 1 against the demon hunter.

My initial reaction was to run but then I realized that his entire kit revolves around auto attacks and a third of mine revolves around preventing auto attacks so I stuck around.

We fought and I got a good laugh out of seeing him slowly lose steam until I was the assassin and he was the helpless tank :smiling_imp:

Yeah, that’s kinda how it goes. Arthas is really strong vs Illidan 1v1, but also any melee hero in general. Also dominates heroes without easy escapes. He’s got a lot of damage on demand for a tank so he can easily let someone else do the tanking and dominate a lane like a Thrall player would. People like to play him as a surprise pick bruiser.

He can also do damage through his tanking. Basically you outlive the enemy with all of your ridiculous self-healing and let your AoE damage slowly chip them down until they die. Consistent damage through survival. The longer they focus on you and don’t kill you, the more threatening Frozen Tempest becomes.

A well-played and observant Arthas can mess up a Sonya in lane. Pretty strong.
