I can not improve. Help!

Hi! I’ve played this game since beta. I’veplayed thousands of games, i watched pro games, streamers, i read advises and watched youtube education about the game for a long-long time. I am up to date with the changes and so on. I have not played a lot of ranked (2-300 games) because of the toxicity but now i felt i do not care and try to climb. I played 30 games in 3 days straight.
I qualified in gold 2 and i slowly but surely demoted to the lower ranks ( i am almost gold 4 now). I do not know what is the problem. I know the basic principles like soaking xp, positioning, drafting, play safe, when to capture camps…etc. But i am still very-very bad. Is there something i am missing? I feel like i can not imporve. Should i quit playing ranked? Can someone help me?

You can always send replays here. We can review it.
What are the heroes you play?
Btw do a blockquote to insert links

Usually players who are struggling is because they don’t play according to their teamates and overthink about their own impact. If you’ve been playing that long I think you should know the heroes and your micro, same for the overall macro gameplay. So I’d advice you to try to watch more what your teamates are doing and how you can “enhance” them so you move your team to the victory instead of thinking “what can I do on my own ?”. Maybe I’m wrong but it’s usually this kind of story. If you want to win you always have to think “how do I make the team win ?”

I’m going to second Varag. Because of how team based this is, it is better for everyone to be wrong together than for 1 or 2 people to be doing the right thing. There becomes a point when individual skill matters far less than cooperation. A decent way to be “forced” into following your teammates is to play healers.

I’m assuming your draft is good and you are a flexible player? Because that would make a difference.

You shouldn’t be too concerned about dropping from gold 2 to gold 4. Getting some pretty bad losing streaks (or just losing more than winning) is completely normal and happens even to the best. Players usually fluctuate between a couple divisions.

How exacly can i upload replays here? How do i get a link?
Anyway i mostly play healers in stormleague. Brightwing, Lili, Anduin are the most successful heroes in my roaster.
My best hero by winrate is Probius (and i love playing him) and i have decent numbers with Butcher and Fenix. (mostly in QM)
My performance with tanks are terrible. Around 30% winrate.

Thank you all for the advises! At least i continue playing because your encouragement. I am looking forward to your thoughts later as well.

I will answer this in the later eve

Ok, one very important thing to remember. If you know the optimal choices to make and your team mates don’t, you have to adjust the way you play.

Example, you’re in volskaya and there’s a double wave hitting your bot lane. The enemy got on the point first, but it’s only at 5%. Your hero has decent wave clear so you have ample time to kill it and join your team after.

Even if you tell your team to wait, and that you’re clearing the lane and joining them after, they are going to engage at 5 v 4 anyway.
So in this case, the optimal choice is the worse choice, and you should still join your team.

There’s a lot of your knowledge that you may not be able to apply when the rest of your team doesn’t know it. If you capture a Tower on ToD, you should of course stay and defend it. But if your team leaves to go kill minions, then you have to leave too and allow the tower to be re-captured.

The other best advice I can give you is, watch your own replays. You’l always find something you didn’t notice while playing that you can improve.

-Focus on strong generalist heroes. If you pick Niche heroes, you better be damn good at them.

-Focus obtaining more exp than the enemy team. Having that lvl 7 before your enemy team for objective is quite handy dandy.

-When drafting, key components: Draft what you’re good at first. 2nd, If you can hard-counter the enemy team somehow, do it. Synergy is nice, but bronze to diamonds players mentally challenged and don’t know how to synergize, even if you spell it out for them (The amount of times I’ve gone Jaina or Arthas to synergize for Raynors, Lunaras and Orphea and in the end don’t pick those talents is too damn high). 3rd ban the typical heroes that your rank considers OP and ban anything that counters your allies’ heroes.

When somebody is toxic to you. You let them know your into BDSM and that you’re sexually turned on. Take their input with very lightly. You know how you played. Be honest with yourself. Can’t get better if you constantly lie.

Most important part: Avoid Death. IDC if you’re leoric. Avoid dying. So if that means you don’t participate in a stupid teamfight because it’s by definition stupid to engage in that team fight (like fighting for vision), you walk away and go do something more valuable, like soaking.

At the end of the game, your goal is to have:
-Decent Xp contribution
-Healthy dmg contribution; not inflated useless dmg, like an Orb Li-Ming
-Healthy siege dmg; not inflated dmg like Ragnaros ulting lanes (even tho this has
its uses but you get what I mean)
-a low death count (this is by far the most important stat, especially late game)

If you’re healing, you’re main heals should be pushed on to your front line. You’re back line is important, but they’re not taking the bulk of the dmg. If somehow that Qhira dives your back line, then, has healer, switch you’re focus to backline healing. Otherwise, heal you’re front line. Too many healer focus on healing that KT that’s constantly out of position. If he does this often, let him die. He’ll be
forced to change his gameplay. Even if you keep clutching, you’d be wasting a heal on which could be more useful on somebody more relevant.

If you succeed at this these continue to repeat this until you get better at doing this, and grow some skin. Soaking exp is too valuable. Saving your idiotic allies can wait when you’re lvl 13+

Also, look at minimap.

Wise words indeed, thanks again! As i said i know the principles, i’ve read/watch several instructional stuff.
I’ve kept playing today, i am at gold 5 now (8 games 1 win). I am depressed. I spend the whole day to improve but i became worst and worst.
In other areas in my life i learned that i put work in something and improvement happens. This is an exception. (today stats: 22/5w)
There must be something fundamentally wrong with my gameplay mechanic. Maybe my reflexes or hand/eye coordination or binocular vision, decision making. I do not know. I do not think that i am stupid (somehow i get two Msc in sciences). But it is has to be a mental issue.

You gotta win trades, not play safe.
Playing safe is a mean to win trades, but not the only one.
Generalize and just think about how to win trades, it’s an economy simulator after all, that’s why we call them trades.

Just focus on getting things for free as well, for example it’s infinitely better in general to get just 2 autos in without getting hit back than landing 4 and getting hit twice.
Free things are good.

Also maybe you are stuck because you are trying to just optimize the mechanics that you already know; that will make you the best of your league but wont get you out of it.
In general, the more mechanics a player is using, the higher the league, that’s the number one important thing, then there’s optimization.
For example:

Samuro:

2 samuros, main difference between them being that one knows how to heal at the fountain by using the shift D combo and the other one does not.

The one that does will have higher mmr simply because he uses a mechanic the other one does not and gets benefitted.

This happens with every single character with countless mechanics.
After learning all the mechanics of a character you gotta optimize and that’s it.

By mechanics i mean in this case even very subtle things like knowing how powerful the mount is on garrosh and getting benefitted for it.

-Best Whitemane in za warudo from last season, top 5 Whitemane right now, top 100 Samuro, top 20 Alarak, top 100 healer.

Just some heads up.

Not everyone’s skill cap is super high. For example I’m never breaking out of low diamond and it’s looking like there is not going to be a change to that by any amount of watching GM streams or studying the game.

Your rank is also limited by the skill level of your opponents. I personally can’t beat mid-high dias and I lose to master+ in 10 minutes or less in premade parties.

I thought we talked about man

Hi guys!
I got it now. I find the way. I did a lot of research and a tried out some things.
First of all everything you mentioned before is good advice. But the most important thing witch made me feel i am getting towards my aims is the following:

The forbidden death mindset.

So i"d started playing cowardly safe aiming zero death no matter what. I tried out at QM and i made 80% winrate. I played ridiculously defensive only thinking about avoiding damage taken. Many times i left my teammates die, i was the first who fled from battle, never engaged alone to anyone. On solo lane i often waited until the enemy minions reached tower range.
With this mindset i’ve started to win most of my games in storm league.
Before that i’ve already knew the importance of staying alive but i always wanted to play good (damage big, double soak, help the team, be a hero). Now i only want zero death at the end of the game and now i am winning.
Thanks for the support!

Sometimes very little details matter a lot and it’s pretty hard to figure them out by yourself. That’s why some people use a coach

Its always a great sight when someone gives another person advice, they take it, apply it, and it helps them. This is why I joined the forums but I haven’t asked for help a lot recently. I have a few times with a couple heroes but I really should make more of them for myself. So far its helped my game.
