I am going to try adopting Zarya

My least favorite daily is the Nexus/Overwatch one. I need a narrative or visual hook in order to fall for a character, and just…none of them appeal to me. Even the ones that I did try have mechanical issues that do NOT resonate with me.

I tried Zarya. She feels similar to how she played in Overwatch, and there are a couple good skim options I can use to make her look cool. The match was a loss, but I had fun which is a good sign. Her talents are very intriguing…

I am going to try to git gud with her. We’ll see what happens!

Love her, but she has a pretty big disadvantage in support matchups unfortunately, which will be a huge chunk of your matches. She also isn’t great at solo laning even though she can do okay against certain matchups. But it’s definitely not optimal which means you’re sort of at the mercy of your allies. Still enjoy playing her, because it’s the closest thing I can get to old Tass, but the forced support matchups can really get stale.

She’s not too hard. You’ll get a feel for the duration of her shield and how strong she is early, especially laning/camping vs. how she doesn’t scale well. Ignore the low IQ complaint of choosing the wrong ult.

I had miserable results with Zarya - trying to be very supportive, or very mage (Q), or something.

Sure, in terms of abilities, solo laning with her is just as appropriate as doing so with Li Li or Malfurion or Tyrande. Lost potential.

I got better results when going for the meta build of close range extra damage. I don’t upload for a while but I’m sure you can figure it out.

I suspect it’s also the best because every support talent choice takes away some of her explosive potential, and with that, your team will really miss burst, or even throughput.

Mei and D.Va are often overlooked. Or Ana, in case you mage.

Zarya and Queera are the most bland ones out there, especially the latter. Tracer is close.

Zarya in QM can get very boring. Your team mates usually don’t get that you have no value if you’re alone.

I disagree, but well, yes, if your team doesn’t work with her, then it’s not fun. ARAM is a different story. Zarya is so strong in that mode and super fun!

Just for that.

And here I’ve been, thinking you were an angel all these years Phase, and yet you do this to me?

More seriously, you’ve been a good influence on me. I no longer instantly open chests, as I’ve had to waste some 1 and 3 days boosts from chests, so now I don’t open a chest until my next log in.

Don’t know if you know this already, but If you open a chest that contains a boost, you can simply log out without confirming. And the chest will be there the next day (Or whenever you want to open it), with the same contents.

Since you’ve been good :innocent:

I totally get this rule as the team with sustain had a clear advantage in QM. However, i feel there should be a match up condition that ignores support vs support if both teams have a dedicated healer.

Dva is my poison for the overwatch quest.

I think that’s how it already is. It’s just Zarya or Medivh against Abathur is really lopsided. TLV is okay because he sort of plays a different function and can counter soak Abathur without needing heavy heals.

The support rule honestly feels kind of arbitrary and having a specific QM rule probably does more harm than good.

The thing is Zarya doesn’t really have sustain. It’s just shields. And Medivh’s “sustain” portion of the shield is really weak unless you talent it at 16 and has a pretty huge conditional of requiring you to be damaged.

oO. The number of times I got a boost while knowing that I can’t play that much the next day. That’s good to know.

Support role is very flawed tbh, Medivh can be a Ranged Assassin in a nutshell and Zarya can play solo lane bruiser position.

Vikings is vikings, Aba is aba.

No, I didn’t know, thanks for this! I feel slightly less embarrassed bout that, because you didn’t know how to clear your collection notification, something I worked out instantly, no doubt motivated by my desire to bring order. As you didn’t care to keep the display clear, it makes sense you didn’t go looking for a solution.

Thank you, how did you know the even number of chests would bring me the sugar?

It felt like you were a CDO person

I like playing zarya. She puts out big numbers and her sound effects are great.

I just had 100% win rate with Zarya for 15 QM games straight (I’m Plat/Diamond on Ranked). Broke it on the 16th. My only hero with longer record is 19-win Leoric, back when a single Skeletal Swing clears a wave.

In normal games, enemies often don’t focus down a single target. Once you shield someone, either:

  • They attack the shield, and you get Energy while your target doesn’t lose much HP; or
When low Energy, only throw Q to start CD running. Once > 50%, you can spam Q for a lot of damage they didn’t expect.
  • They ignore your shield target, in which case your teammates get free running/attacking.
Medivh shield is nowhere near as often or lasts as long.

Also, always take Expulsion Zone. Much better Ult. You can get free Boss, invade Camp, block Choke points, slow people you’re chasing… The other Ult is a “maybe” if your team has really good wombo combo, like Orphea. But it’s honestly no more than a big Arthas root.
