Hypothetical Question Mach

Lets say you get reported for some reason {insert it here} Do you think it actually makes a difference as to pairing with a rando in your next game? This sounds absurd I know, but sometimes “I feel” like I am being punished from like a game or two ago where I either said something or just performed really bad

As a disclaimer I’ve played this game for about 6 years so I realize this is inaccurate just being based off facts - But that being said it certainty feels like this sometimes

punished how exactly?

Punished as in being reported. I lost 2 games - 1 of which was entirely my fault. I’ve played about 7 today - 6 losses, and literally only 1 win. 6 losses in a row is an actual abomination for me especially for a 53% WR and seeing that much red makes me want to puke so it really makes me wonder { this is qm btw, but mmr is still very much a factor }

I don’t think so? You don’t know for sure if you got reported by the other person so.

There were several theories regarding matchmaking system in the past, I’m reluctant to believe any of them. To me, it’s the day (I think I mentioned this once in this forum). Not chosen nefariously by Blizz to screw you, but when it’s that day, that time you’re playing when the players playing around your MMR, bracket, those that get matched to your team, just aren’t good. I think it’s that day when MM expects you to carry your team (again, not intentionally with ill motives, but just by how MMR works, lower end of the bracket gets matched with you, you being the higher bracket one while the enemy team is more well rounded).

When it’s that day, I think it’s better to cut short your play time (unless someone enjoys losing and being frustrated) or play a different mode. It was that day couple of days ago for me :disappointed:. I don’t know about others, but because of some fighting, rebellious spirit or whatever you call it, I tend to take some of that game for more (oh yeah? is that how you gonna do it? let’s dance then). End up taking the red more.

Pure placebo. Reports or blocking someone have zero bearing on matchmaking, and nobody with 100000% certainty is personally ‘punishing’ you at the Blizzard offices by matching you with people you don’t like.

The employees don’t care that much about a single player, as they barely even care about HotS anymore.

6 losses in a row is an actual abomination for me

The main developer of the game lost 16 games in a row at the start of a season, and he is in the upper percentile of Grand Masters. It’s nothing more than variance.

People rarely reminisce in their last 9 win streak in the same way, because you assume every win was your doing. People remember losses more harshly, and blame them on other players.

I am no stranger to that bias, I know I’ve had 10+ win streaks but I don’t even know when they were. But I still remember my last 3 loss streak, which was due to my own sub-optimal plays.
