His kit seems to be very fun for me, but I can’t find a way to play him properly. Any general tips or guides will be appreciated.
Also, is he worth to be played in SL, and in which circumstances? He doesn’t seems to be a generalist like Joh or Mei.

He isn’t a generalist like the triple generalist kings: Mei, ETC and Joh, but he is still decent for me.
I would pick him, if my team has more AD oriented than AP (mage-ish) like you usually go in BoE and your team needs lifesteal and cc initation. Another way to combo him is a team paired with Abathur, because since he has great autoattacks and more engage than Arthas he does fine for me. He could also be nice against heavy-tanky teams, because he has % damage on Q.
But isn’t his cc initiation too unreliable to use? Sleeping targets are waked up almost instantly, and after engaging with Night Rush he has little to do while focused, aside from soaking as much dmg as possible with Necrotic Embrace and disengaging with Carrion Swarm.
Sure, but it also gives your team enough time to re-position your team and yourself and focus the awakened target. Few seconds are usually enough in a fast game like Hots. I see his E as a potencial mini-cocoon, you can use it for re-positon or escape (sleep them and run with increased movement speed).

Ok, I can see how this can work. But whenever I’m trying to use it for disengage I am usually getting cc-ed, or being kited and chased to death by fast heroes like Valla or Lunara without being able to even hit them. And also Brightwing, whom I am getting to see more and more, is making it very hard to be at least somewhat useful in teamfights.
