How to make playing Probius fun?

I have owned this hero for over a year and I can’t figure out how to have fun with it. Are there any builds or strats that make him more than a boring push hero?

Not playing him like a boring push hero.

Queue up with Malfurion and Disruption Pulse people’s faces off.

Probius is super fun to play, just remember he is a mage.

If you have a creative tool but don’t know what to do, it seems boring, yes.

I personally was always a fan of his E build, and my favourite thing as him is this:

Haha yeah it’s hilarious when you have some over-eager assassin who senses an easy kill chase you into a bush…and then you press R.

Q build.

It makes your Q decently powerful.
Lower risk and more accurate than trying to detonate Rifts on people.
In fact, pretty much never drop a Rift with the intent of detonating it, unless on minions.
You throw them out to control enemy pathing, and detonate them IF they insist on going through anyway.

They’ve made E build a little more interactive now that the talent that reduces their cooldowns triggers off Q hits.
But I’d still consider E build situationally good against divers, partly because they don’t prioritize heroes, and partly because I usually try to stick my Pylons pretty far back so they almost never die.

It’s funny how often I use Z to chase dying heroes and finish them off with Q.
The fact that it is interrupted by damage makes it harder to use for escape unless you use it well ahead of time, but for pursuit that’s usually less of an issue.
Angry Probe is angry.

I try to play Probious like I play my Sylvanas with the team.

Probious has some major clearing but also huge zoning potential, I think he plays better with your team in a lane instead of soaking alone.

Since he has to play around his pylons, this means you don’t want to move a whole heck of a lot unless you can help it.

I play Probious almost the same way regardless of build. Zerging a lane/tower with the group while a solo split soaks else where. Adjust your pylons and lane presence depending on where the objective(s) will spawn.

Blizz ffs, please make lvl 20 Null Gate the level 10 version!

probe is god like in a team fight and any map where you gotta hold a position. should make more of a point to meet up with your team when ever you can set up.

My fingers hurt when I play Probius :frowning:

I imitate the noises Probius makes while I play. I also exclaim, “We require additional (insert random word here)!”

If you go Warp Resonance at level 1 (Q quest) and complete it, you can set up triple rift traps in bushes and chunk people hard that face check. A Twitch streamer named Glogan used to do that a bunch.

I think Probius needs just few QoL changes to be fun:

  1. Z is uninterruptable for 1 second after casting.
  2. He gets 2-nd charge on his trait (3-rd with the level 20 upgrade)
  3. Pylons get shield, that regenerates over time (their HP is reduced by half, and they get shield equal to the lost amount)

For me it would be:

  • more charges or lower CD for pylons
  • ability to target with cannons

Probius is a lot of fun already. Not every hero has to suit everyone and he’s not just a push hero. Not staying in lane afk pushing might be a good start though.

I just don’t see the need for Pylon charges or reduced cooldown.
Far too often I’m trying to remember what my first Pylon was so I can decide if I should place the third or not and have one disappear…

Probie is fun when you play on a point holding map as a solo holder ( dk and brax)

Its fun becuase you can hold you own 1v1 and even 1v2 for brief periods. What makes it a challenge is doing that , holding the wave and not dieing when they come gank you.
