Hello, my name is DJPea. I am a flex main in HOTS, so i rather have multiple heroes i rely on, this guide will be about my favorite Warrior, ̶K̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶S̶k̶e̶l̶e̶t̶o̶n̶s̶ The Skeleton King, Leoric. I am level 17 with him, which to a normal Leoric main, wouldn’t seem like much, but it’s all about that skill!
Leoric - HP: Good for a Bruiser - Mana: You won’t have to worry too much on it unless you’re using Skeletal Swing without hitting heroes. - Attack Damage: Fine, trait helps this. - Attack Speed: Slow, but you can talent this.
Trait, D - Undying/ Wrath Of The Bone King: Leoric has two traits!? Yes, Undying is when you die, instead you become a ghooooost and can reduce death timer. If you fill the ghooooost bar, you insta-rez right on the spot. Wrath Of The Bone King is that how your first two Basic Attacks will happen in an arc, while the third one will happen on only one target, but deal much more damage.
Q, Skeletal Swing - 80 mana 14 sec CD Swing your mace in an arc for higher damage! Enemies hit will be slowed by 40% for 2.5 seconds, and if an enemy hero is hit, you refund 50% CD and Mana!
W, Drain Hope - 60 mana 10 sec CD Shoot out a spooooky hand to grasp the enemy hero’s soul, which can deal 20% of their Max hp as damage, and heal Leoric for 20% of his. Though, you are slowed by 20% as well. Lasts 4 seconds
E, Wraith Walk - 50 Mana 14 sec CD Leoric splits his spirit with himself, allowing him to gain 50% movement speed and teleport wherever his spirit is at the end of the duration. Though, Leorics body can still be attacked, and the spirit can move through gates / Nazeebo Walls.
R1, Entomb - 90 Mana 50 sec CD Summon a rectangular wall infront of Leoric which traps all foes and allies inside. Do not troll people with this, the ability is used for securing kills/ trapping the enemy team!
R2, March of the Black King - 75 Mana 50 sec CD Leoric becomes unstoppablemarches foward and swings his mace 3 times dealing good damage each. With every strike, if a hero is hit, he will heal for 12% of max hp! Very effective ability against melee heroes.
Talents
1: Extra Sustain Tier
Q, Consume Vitality - Skeletal Swing’s cooldown is reduced by 2 seconds, and enemy heroes hit will heal Leoric for 4% of his max HP.
D, Fealty Unto Undeath - When a nearby allied or enemy minion dies, Leoric heals for 1% of his maximum HP and gains 5 mana.
[Active], Ossein Renewal - 120 sec CD Activate to heal Leoric for 30% of his maximum hp over 5 seconds. Picking up a regeneration globe lowers the cooldown by 20 seconds.
All three of these talents are pretty good.
4, Skeletal Swing Tier
Q, Ghastly Reach - Increase Skeletal Swing’s range by 25%. Doesn’t seem like much, but it actually is pretty good, pairs well with Consume Vitality.
Q, Paralyzing Rage - Increase the slow of Skeletal Swing by 20%. Well, it increases an already good slow!
Q, Kneel, Peasants! - Skeletal Swing deals 100% more damage to non-heroes. Do remember that if you don’t hit an enemy hero, the mana cost and cooldown is still high
These talents are great for what situation you are in.
7, Drain Hope Tier
W, Willing Vessel - The healing of Drain Hope is increased to 25% of Leoric’s maximum HP, and if it lasts the full duration, he is also healed for an additional 5% of his max HP too! It can potentially increase W’s healing by 50%!
W, Drain Momentum - Drain Hope no longer reduced Leoric’s movement speed, but when the ability reaches it’s full duration, you instead gain 30% movement speed! Sorta Good for Chases.
W, Hopelessness - Drain Hope’s range is increased by 25%. Simple, but so-so
It’s usually just Willing Vessel here.
10, Ult Tier
R - Well, you already know them from above.
The Ultimate Talent’s for Leoric are both good.
13, Empowering Tier
W, Unyielding Despair - Drain Hope’s CD is reduced by 0.5 sec’s for every 1 sec it is active. If the max duration is reached, cooldown is reduced by a further 2 secs, to a maximum of 4 sec CD reduction. A bit unsure about this talent.
W, Hardened Bones ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) - Leoric gains 20 armor during Drain Hopes duration, reducing damage taken by 20%. If the duration is fully reached, retain the armor for 3 seconds. The best one overall here
E, Ominous Wraith - Wraith Walk’s duration is increased by 100%. If an enemy hero comes in contact with the spirit, their damage is reduced by 50%. A bit complicated, but the damage reducing is decent
An odd tier, but good choices, usually Hardened Bones for it’s pure tankiness
16, Further Empowering Tier
W, Crushing Hope - If drain hope fully reaches it’s duration, deal an extra 15% maximum HP to the enemy hero. This does not heal Leoric. VERY effective against enemy tanks.
E, Q, Royal Focus - Wraith Walk increases the damage of the next Skeletal Swing by 50%, and every enemy hero hit by Skeletal swing reduces the cooldown of Wraith Walk by 7 sec’s. Somewhat Complicated, but still effective.
D, Mithril Mace - Increase Leoric’s attack speed by 20%. Quest: Nearby enemy minions increase the attack speed by 0.3% and heroes increase it by 3%. Up to a maximum of 30%.
Overall, a good tier
20, Storm Tier
R1, Buried Alive - The Duration of Entomb is reduced by 1 second, but enemies within are silenced and take fine damage. Effective, but remember the duration is reduced
R2, Death March - The Final swing of March of the Black King applies drain hope to enemy heroes. The drain hope hit with them is also a talented one, so LOTS of healing
D, Spectral Leech - Basic Attacks deal an extra 2.5% of enemy heroes max HP as extra damage. Healing leoric for twice of that. Good with Mithril Mace
W, Burning Despair - Deal good damage to nearby enemies in a small radius around Leoric. While Drain Hope is active, the area and damage is increased by 100%. Very good for AoE
[Active], Shroud of the Dead King - 75 sec CD Leoric gains protected for 3 seconds. Simple, but very good, the duration feels like forever!
