How to learn maiev?

Best talent builds? What should you be doing? Ect

Land your Qs
Pull people
That is all

Pretty much, you have to hedge your bets on opponent team bunching up. If not you can try some other builds, and they have their usefulness, but Maiev thrives on her Q.

If you’re not getting constant resets she just feels like a really bad Alarak.

Her trait is nice but with how squishy she is and dependent on scenarios it’s really difficult to use her well.

E build is the easiest. You might want to start with this one just to practice her. E in, AA, W for AA reset, run.

AA build for macro and good AA weaving opportunity, vs not much poke and high CC.

W build is the hardest. You need to brawl a lot to scale. Good vs backline to one shot them. I wouldn’t recommend it in a serious game. Clip for the combo. Elune’s Wrath is still better than Bond of Corruption.

Q build should be the default pick. Pursuit of Vengeance if the macro is covered enough, Blade Dance if you’re scared of not finishing the quest. Vengeful Knives is so good.

Disc vs unstoppable targets or to kill pilot D.Va.

I learned to play Maiev in ARAM and I do lots of macro in QM. To be ready in SL, I would need to play her much more. She’s one of the hardest hero of the game, but can be so rewarding. Get a good single target healer with her. She needs lots of support to shine. Clip

You flagged huntress shadow orb for w build, not shadow strike?

That post is a copy/paste of the last three times I’ve seen replies to similar topics. Two of the links in that post should go to SpaBvogel videos.

Part of the best way to learn maiev is to hit target dummies and get a feel for her range, resets and rotations.

E, her blink, I say has about 3 key uses for setting up combos and influences how players can/should build their Maiev after they find which form they like.

E can be used to blink in, activate tether, and then run out.
E can be used before Maiev runs in, tethers and then blink out
E can be used after Maiev flanks the team to run a cdr combo that allows her to attack with, and blink out with E.

W bind can be used in a similar set of 3, based on talents:
W snap can be used for aoe damage
W snap can be used to isolate and debuff enemy targets
W can be used to force enemies to hold their ground and fight with you (q resets and/or Naisha bounces)

While Maiev does lack self-sustain, she does have pretty decent waveclear and merc clear (build depending) so it’s not uncommon if Maiev ends up doing a bunch of pve stuff in between objects esp since she prefers to engage on several heroes to get value from Q resets or her aoe damage.

So the way to ‘learn’ maiev is seeing her in action, trying out some setups for yourself in test dummies to get a feel for combo order and talents that feel good to you to use, and then take it to some ai/qm games to try it out on moving targets.

You’re right, that was a misclick. As you can see in the clip, I used Shadow Strike to proc a Cruel Chain stack.

When I played her in the past, I’m pretty sure this is what I used
3131332
The Q’s are just… niche. I feel like someone just wanted a new shape for a nuke and they landed on the crescent moon. She was created around the time where every hero has a new… “Shape” that you had to like get used to. The Q’s are a waste of time(for damage), honestly they’re BEST used for catching people running away, or for boosting armor, INCREDIBLY hard (for me at least) to accurately aim that thing tightly (I do have carpal tunnel though). Her REAL power is her auto attacks and her E – and her ability to grab multiple people and pull them wherever. And when you get Armored Assault+Shadow Orb:Huntress at level 20, she does damage dude. Damage.

Do your Q on release.
Queue with a healer and play with me

Maeive cant be learned trough reading

Wait for her to get buffs and s tier

Why not just use another hero that’s easier to use and doesn’t need as much support to output the same rewards?

Seriously?
The question is about talents and strat for Maiev.

Your answer is “just play an easier hero”.

You’re not considering how powerful Maiev can be and how lots of hard heroes like her, Yrel, Mephisto, and Whitemane can be rewarding. That’s why I love playing them. Stick with your Raynor or Cassia if you want, but you don’t get to recommend other heroes on this thread.

Maiev’s winrate and popularity for diamond+master isn’t good. You can even chop off levels 1-10 to only get higher leveled maiev mains and her winrate still isn’t good. You can combine patches to see long trends and it still isn’t good. Basically the only argument you can use is the probius argument. Maybe one or two mains at most are excelling really well if that.

Only getting rid off levels 1-10 is pretty ridiculous considering that Maiev is one of the hardest hero in the game. You have to look for levels over +25. Then, she has the same wr as the others on level +25.

Her average result doesn’t imply that players should look for easier hero.
Draft her accordingly and she’s in a good spot.
Vengeful Knives melts the double bruisers meta.
Warden’s Cage sets up great wombos.
Naisha’s Memento helps early game with the macro.
Baseline Vault helps denying chain CC.

Show-off.
