Just a quick and dirty thread to see how people use likes; motivated by me noticing that i use them as a sort of “I agree/I took notice of that post.” in case i do not think a reply makes sense and the concrete string of argumentation in a discussion is at it´s end. Sort of like a punctuation mark.
Any other odd usages you noticed by yourselves?

When I open a new thread, I like every post that contributes to the subject at hand.
In other threads, here is what I like:
- Posts I generally agree with
- Posts that reply to one of my questions
- Funny one-liners that roast others; bonus points for replies to a dead horse, like surrender button or items
- Posts that show work, like statistical analysis or fan art
- Topics that do not interest me personally, but are well thought out and are great discussion starters for those interested
- Posts I don’t necessarily agree with, but are structured logically and make it engaging to debate
Nutshell:
- Stuff I agree with
- Stuff that keeps discussions going

I generally use likes to show what I like/agree with, but sometimes I use them to show who is being less salty/toxic/mean/rude etc in argument.

Posts that I agree with, posts that are well thought out (even if I disagree), or posts that made me laugh.

Whenever someone posts something useful, or raises a point most ppl don’t think of. Sometimes it disagrees with what I wrote, but it’s still a good point.

I tend to use likes for those posts that say what I want to say either first or better. I also, as many others, use them on posts that make me laugh.

I’m rather partial to using likes. If someone makes an interesting point or contribution to a thread I like, I don’t have to agree with it. People who post useful guides get a like. Quality effort posts get a like, whether I agree with them or not.
People who make me laugh out loud always get a like. Those who post in a polite, reasoned and respectful way are also insta liked.

This is pretty much my reasoning, too. I will also like posts that are generally positive or informative, or that add things to the conversation I hadn’t thought about.

-Posts i agree with.
-Posts i disagree with that is well written with a proper point made usually with facts linked.
-Funny posts, usually not funny topics since i think it is a tiny bit abusing a forum.
-If SamiSha comes with his new teachings.
-If Hellobg makes those well written hero consepts.

Mostly this. But I’ll occasionally give them out randomly because I don’t think they really have any weight to them.
Seen other people say they use them as encouragement for people saying dumb things to get them to continue. Can’t remember who though. I think they said it in response to someone pointing out their likes as a metric for victory in some argument.

I use likes kinda sparingly. I think I’m not used to it.
Typically I like:
- Something I agree with
- Funny, Smart, Interesting, Creative, Informative, Helpful, Polite, Kind, Considerate, Thoughtful, Respectful posts
- People I get along with

I absolutely agree with the idea of giving likes in moderation. I tend to value the absence of ad hominum/bullying highly. Many posts might be correct and comprehensive but if they are visibly offensive they are just not likeable to me. I like posts that are friendly and helpful, make me laugh, bring the community together and contribute to make heroes of the storm a more enjoyable game in general.

I use likes if I either like/agree with a post, or I’m a fan of the poster ~
