How do you play Q build Artanis?

Look like some players have decent success with this build but for me so far it working soso. Do you go deep into their backline and try to live as much as you can, or you play kinda safe, try to trigger a lot of Q dash before engaging?

Also: What do you usually go at 20?

Summon Hoku

He goes great with a Aba

I only like Q build if there are no stuns, roots, or any kind of movement CC on the enemy side. Also instead of Solarite Reaper, I like Chrono-Surge so I can get more Q resets once Templar’s Zeal is unlocked.

But anyways.

The build where you have increased att speed on 7 and 16

And the meta build are the strongest
Just try to focus the one your team is focusing.
Dont go for the backline, go for the one who is out of position.

I use not for dmg but to dodge abilities (and dmg is secondairy)

I’ve heard he was good with dmg tyrande before

ow wait…

By picking Amateur Opponent instead.

Then you heard bad my friend

It’s kinda in the build

Well that build is good when the enemy lacks stuns or roots and you have a good support, so almost never.

I use Q build when the enemy team has blinds or evasion, such as a JoJo or Illidan, when they do not have easy to land stuns and/or roots, and when I will get more benefit out of AoE damage than single target damage. Q build is also good against mobile heroes, where you might not be able to AA as much as you like. However, I typically wouldn’t draft Artanis into that sort of comp in the first place.

Maps like Infernal Shrines are good for a Q build, as it can clear a lane more quickly, allowing me to rotate sooner, or will do decent damage on clumped up enemies and objective minions. I wouldn’t take it on a map where I need single target damage, like BoE or Hanamura, even if the enemy team is blind heavy.

I’ve only found Q build good for one reason. Wave clear.

It was once much more tempting a playstyle before they reworked how his swap could work. Now that he has that, the damage his Q does isn’t even important because his real damage always has come from his AA’s.

But, if you want to play Artanis and your team could use some extra wave clear the Q build is decent at being able to quickly stack up Seasoned Marksman stacks, so there’s that.

Personally, I just don’t think it’s worth taking Solarite Reaper over Follow Through or especially Warp Sickness.

Templar’s Zeal without Solarite Reaper has some usefulness if you use it to defensively dodge stuff, Triple Strike is a must take whenever you take Amateur Opponent, Phase Bulwark is nice vs enemy magic damage and Graviton Vortex is nice if you can consistently hit your swaps.

All in all, the build is niche because the core talents for it on very competitive talent tiers against talents that are more useful in a wider variety of situations.
