Hi there! I’m playing HOTS for quite some time now, but only recently I realised the UI element as shown in the attachment*. I tried a lot to find out its purpose, also google provided no answer. Can anybody explain what it’s good for?
Thanks in advance!
- as blizzards doesn’t allow attachments or links I have to explain
During a game you can find the buttons labeled 1-3 above your selectable skills in the left lower corner. You can toggle them on or off - but always just one of them. You can also flip all of them off.
Some heroes have Spell Shield as a talent that is selectable. That talent can either “auto activated lets say 30 seconds for some and be active for 3-5 seconds” This is kind of random or you can toggle spell shield to be off, and then when you are about to be pyroblasted or take some high dmg spell you can activate it before being hit and mittigate dmg.
If you are abathur you discharge locust regularly, but this tips off your enemies as to where you are so you may toggle it off, to sit closer to the action then enable them when you level 16 spew 3 locust is up and you can burrow out leaving 4 to push.
Read the talents you should be able to try to come up with scenarios where disabling autoscanning talents is good.
That is the “Favorite” function they added very recently, and allows you to designate one talent per tier as your favorite on that tier. It allows you to recognize which talent you prefer to use on that hero at a glance, share builds with others, and when it is time to select a talent in a match, you can press Ctrl+` to select your favorite, regardless of which one it is.

Yea, those are “builds” what you can create, share and save, before a match.
3 builds can be made and you can swithc between them during a game.
It’s mostly just visual and for easy build-sharing.

Thanks for your replies - its’s actually a handy feature once you know how to set your builds (in the skill tree prior to the game). Your standard skillset can be selected with one shortcut

I made a post about how poorly designed this feature was. It was fun to photoshop the mess together back when I had TL3.
