Before starting the discussion, let me remind you that this makes this the first game for consoles, and console players support this game a lot, and its cross-play leads to a lot of players.
If you define this game on the controller it will be great.
and
Please add automatic talent to inside the checkbox of talents. (Automated talent based on favorite talent which the user has already marked)
as soon as I reach level 10, In many games, I lost my life because of one hundredth of a second that I needed R power, this is if I had chosen automatic talent in the beginning of the game I didn’t lose my life.
I wouldn’t want a console player on my team. How exactly would you execute good stutter stepping, panning around the map to see what is going on and so on with a controller or joystick?
There’s a reason why you can’t play Dota 2 or LoL on consoles, Moba’s don’t work on consoles. I mean there’s Wild Rift by Riot, but that’s basically a very simplified ARAM.
If defined for PC shooter games you were saying to yourself how to easily control the target pointer without my mouse.
But I must say that everything goes back to habit, we humans are afraid of new things and tend to habits.
Putting the cart a bit before the horse there I think…
And yeah, no idea how one would map a MOBA that is “top down” to a controller, while enabling cross play with KB+M.
But if they find a good way to do so, I’m all for it.
Actually I could imagine it, I mean LoL is working on a freaking mobile phone, so why wouldn’t it work on console? In the past I couldn’t imagine playing ego shooter on gamepad until some players proved me wrong, so it’s maybe really like Zeitoon said already. We’re humans are afraid of new things, we can’t imagine trying things out of the box.
I spend a lot of time playing this and it sometimes hurts my back or neck.
If a controller is defined for this game, I can easily lean on my chair and I can also experience this game on family cinema TV
Pretty sure it isn’t full LoL.
It’s a stream lined version that takes stuff out of the game.
I don’t know how much they’ve cut out, but I imagine it is well over half the buttons that you use on PC.
My issue is there aren’t enough buttons to allow maximum amount of abilities you can get, without limiting movement options.
Q, W, E, R
Trait, Mount
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Force move, attack move, stop
I know few ever use the full hot bar, but it exists so controller support would need to address it.
That being said, pretty sure anyone with a controller could make hotkeys map to it, and try to play with it!
If someone finds a scheme that makes sense, I’ll dig a controller out to try it also!
Even if you are right, you basically made a solution how Hots can work on mobile too. What Riot can, shouldn’t be much of a problem for Activision Blizzard as well…
I think steam controller will meet all our needs
It should be noted that the new controller have added more buttons to the control, such as the back of the key feature controller
Never used one, although it does look like it would do better than joystick controllers.
I’m sure you could try mapping HotS hotkeys to a steam controller, if you own one. And want to try playing with it.
On a side note, isn’t it difficult to play top down games with a controller? I never tried it so I am curious.
I do not know why every topic that is created is opposed by many people
The game has the ability to controller and mouse
You play with the mouse
It’s very, very simplified. It’s basically what a Lost Cavern match or Aram match looks like in Hots.
(Not advertising a competitor, just showing how a moba looks on a mobile, it’s very bare bones)
A very basic version of the PC game.
Well might be, but it is also difficult to play first person shooter with a controller and still there are players out there, who do it and like it. It is probably just personal preference, especially, if you see that Wild Rift works on mobile. Sure it is simplified, but still it works. Now imagine a simplified Hots version for mobile?
And since Activision Blizzard seems interested in the mobile market (see Diablo Immortal), why not for Hots?
Have you never played diablo? Torchlight? Grim Dawn? all of those are top down and function perfectly with a controller. Twin stick shooters are all top down and work with controllers. They had a moba LoTR game on xbox 360. the ps4 has a f2p moba that works perfectly fine on a controller. it’s definitely easier with a KbM i’d assume (for precision reasons)
The only reason they were able to get Diablo 3 to work was by auto aiming spells.
Auto aim should not be a part of a competitive game unless the core game is designed around it like Goldeneye 64.
And Riot Games made Wild Rift, if they can, why shouldn’t A.B. can’t do it?
Diablo Immortal
That’s basically what LoL Wild Rift is, it’s their Diablo Immortal for their main game.
So for HotS that would probably be a lower graphics version of aram with lighter ability animations. No objectives, laning or things like that. Just fighting. Maybe not even talents.
It wouldn’t be cross compatible with the PC version but something to play in very short bursts (the match times could be designed to be something like 5 to 10 minutes) on a smartphone or tablet.
As a revenue generator, it could either cost a few bucks to download, or they could sell mobile-unique skins for a few bucks each. To minimize costs, use existing sprites/3d models from HotS.
If you really want to use a controller, a steam controller and a set of simple macros will get the job done. I think youll find tho, that dropping aoes like flamestrike and ring of frost will be very clunky and slow. Auto attacking something behind another target would have the same issue.
Because no one has shown a good way to map the buttons required to a game pad.
Anyone can do it, provided they have a game pad that can connect to their PC.
Give us a layout that feels good so people can try!?
Do they have 12 default abilities keys on PC?
That is the big issue, at the end of everything.
Twin sticks have existed for a long time, because they work!
But they don’t tend to have as many potential abilities as HotS.
Again though, someone with a controller should be able to map everything to it!
