So that the game is developed in the right direction with the new developers being hired:

My same thought:

Hey! Here’s an idea, how about you just read the forums you already have, so you make sure you do not listen to ONLY the voices of 100 entitled people who can’t possibly represent the ā€œ2 millionā€ users you ā€œhaveā€ on your player base.

This is as fantastical as harry potter or the lotr

It seems like the video wasn’t well received by the community.

It’s almost as the ones in the video needed to read ā€œThank youā€ + ā€œsmileā€ at the end.

They have enough feedback already. This is just an illusion of getting heard.

Look, all things considered, the janitor who is still keeping the servers running for this game is doing his best.

Put me on the HOTS Council. My first decree - All Qhira players are permanently muted.

Declined. Next!

I’m always toxic around these things but mostly I’m right so listen up. What they’re trying now has been a thing since 2013 until it proved the fact how developers don’t enjoy being pulled by the strings and eventually ghosted the group of people doing the exact thing for them.

What this has a potential of is turning a pre-approved selection of influencers and community figures into victims of social media witch hunts by crazy people. In the end the average user gets mad because their feedback is seen as inferior because they need to go through additional channels for it to be seen.

Previously they paid for this kind of job, but now they somewhat expect that some idiot will apply and do everything for free, out of love for the game. This sort of thing however might actually work as a replacement for their auto-suspension report system, but nothing else.

IIRC, they had a private forum for influencers and high end raiders to give feedback for Shadowlands and BFA which meant nothing because Blizzard just doesn’t listen.

Memes aside, the whole ā€œcouncilā€ idea just seems like a pointless roundabout method of resolving player dissatisfaction, especially when they have been ignoring forums and other platforms for years despite players begging.

How about this Polokus, you can have this council idea when you finish editing your 40 hour 12 part documentary.

So in other words…

I wish it the best but it sounds like it’s going to be a poop show.

The idea sounds good on paper but I fear favoritism and nepotism is what will ruin it.

I my experience this is almost a 100% certainty because people are well, people and flawed. I also wouldn’t want a CM that would no doubt be expected to work without being paid. This is a bad idea.

Considering the Mods we do have on these forums are no doubt impartial, even they make very inconsistent decisions. If someone from this community was appointed to manage it, they would by definition lack impartiality (being part of the community), so there is more likelihood people would object to and question their actions.

I think a HOTS community council will be pretty cool. They’d have to have vast knowledge of the game, have a clean record in game and on the forums and have good communication skills.

I think one of the goals for being on the community council is to sum up the most important things the community’s asking for, and condensing it for the Devs.

There’s also an extended condition that they have to properly and formerly apply for the position, almost like a job application and interview. Keep in mind, the Devs and Blues do need to read the forums as they usually should to keep track of what the players are asking for.

Basically The community council only sums up what they’ve been reading in simpler terms or to confirm what they’ve been reading on the forums that’s been asked by the community. There’d also be other things a community council can do.

There’s a few people that come to mind that would do a pretty good job being on the council. For example, Minky, Karabears or even Hoku. I think Phase Shifter might be a great asset.

I think you were there when the OP mentioned that they were making a documentary of all the times he defeated rank 1 players, as an excuse for not accepting the challenges thrown at him. There were other excuses thrown in there too, but this was something no one was asking for and he wanted to grace the internet with this gem that doesn’t exist.

I think this is a terrible idea. I’m going to have a real moment here; out of all the video games I’ve played I’d consider Blizzard fans to be top 5 of most toxic, vocal fanbases. Not the worst but it’s pretty BAD.

It’s something the devs failed to account for with the reporting system; which resulted in false bans and account action happening; with a ā€˜review’ process that, frankly, is not adequate nor acceptable - and this would simply be a repeat of that situation.
