While there is no specific mention about HOTs or anything else Blizzard as of yet, there is certainly some anecdotal teasers in there that one could only speculate about. We know Blizz loves dropping teasers.
Lets go over the info we can gather from the trailer:
at :09 seconds a powerful Storm develops
a few seconds later, it mentions that Legends Gather
at :20 it mentions What was lost can be found again
While I was hoping we might hear something about HOTs at this year’s Blizzcon (not happening), it gives hope that something major might be in the works.
“Let the speculation begin!” ~In a Medivh type voice.
Yes I know, it could be far fetched, it could mean WoW 2… Or even something Warcraft related, but it keeps me on life support knowing there is a possibility.
Didn’t you see the lightning bolt? That happened after they said “something is coming” as they panned up to the Storm developing.
If something makes easy money, don’t waste funds making it better.
They’re making money off a 23 year old engine. They won’t change it until interest wanes.
I’m good crossing Wow2 off the list. Agree with what you say and there are other complications here.
So what else could it be?
Diablo has gotten all the attn the last handful of years and likely doesn’t need to be a 2026 headliner, so I highly doubt it is Diablo related. Cross this off the list.
Hearthstone - seems to be in a fine spot. Expansions handle everything needed. We can cross this off the list.
New game? I doubt it is this as they mention “What was lost can be found again”.
Warcraft? Possible, but Warcraft Rumble/Remastered have somewhat flopped. Off the list.
Overwatch - Still a current game. Not totally lost. Mixed reception on OW2. Doubt it is this.
Starcraft - I think there is a decent possibility here.
Rock n Roll racing - hasn’t had an update in over 30 years. Feeling good about this one.
So that boils down to it being: Hots, SC or Rock n Roll racing. Put your money down on the table.
monkey paw curls, HotS sequel drops, it’s a battle royale ala Fortnite with the nexus roster, HotS officially shut down and replaced by new “Riders of the Nexus”
Some very interesting updates on Blizz’s mane landing page:
If you click on “Learn More” in the Blizzcon Returns in 2026 banner, then scroll down, you will see some familiar faces:
Raynor can clearly be seen, along with what looks like a Hearthstore Dorf. Scroll down further and there are images of Sylvanas, Tracer and someone who looks similar to Kerrigan (who is this?)
That is Lilith from Diablo 4. For all the negative comments about it, I have been having a lot of fun with that game. And no, I don’t need the cosmetic microtransaction stuff, so I just ignore that whole aspect of the game.
also, the way the heads look for Raynor and Sylvanas look off putting to me, like they are at the wrong angle and way too small for their suits. Almost AIesque to me.
Please don’t throw around this accusation without strong evidence. Polluting the well makes it so easy for companies to actually get away with using AI. Like, that’s really irresponsible.
Also, no, both Raynor and Sylvanas look fine. Raynor’s head is small because marine armor is really huge.
Normally I’d agree, I don’t think this trailer is supposed to be about HotS. But, with the increased rate of updates, a handful of new skins, and bringing back brawl mode, I dunno. It seems plausible at least. If nothing else, the comments make it clear how excited people would be to see HotS come back.
RTS is having something of a resurgence. Age of Mythology: Retold exceeded its already high expectations. I think this is the right environment to release another banger and have it do well.
