HoS Revival Idea

Hello Blizzard,

I believe, HoS would have a good chance of being revived if it becomes mainly an Arena-type MOBA game, 2v2, 3v3, and ARAM-like games.

Best of wishes,
Your fan that had downloaded a version of the game before it was even released.

That’s not the game being revived. That’s designing a completely new game…

Honestly as a non-Aram player and someone who doesn’t like mobile gaming that much, this doesn’t speak to me. I’d rather prefer the game stay in its actual state. It’s only my point of view though and maybe a radical change like this might be good for the game, and more compatible with modern tastes and Blizzards expectations… But I am an old chap (is it proper english to say that ?) and so, i value my habits

I have to reiterate, the game is completely fine. The balance is fine. Most big bugs have been ironed out, and no hero is particularly an instant ban or an instant pick.

The big problem is, and always has been, a lack of players, which creates a death spiral that ultimately kills a server.

No advertising the game, no interesting pro scene to promote the game, zero customer support and very slow reaction to manual reports of abusive players… All this made people desert several HotS servers already.

The game is fine. It just needs the player numbers Dota 2 has to work properly and have functional matchmaking.
Which is now undoable since the game was relegated to a legacy museum curiosity category with Diablo 2.

The reason why the game is deserted is because it is not that great. People prefer LoL and Dota 2 for a reason.

It’s still fun and a decent game.

It’s deserted because it no longer receives any content updates. That Hots was never more popular than LoL or Dota isn’t something anyone is debating.

Considering Hots had no updates at all, for almost 2 years (until the recent bug fix patch), and that I can still find games with short queues in QM/Ranked and instant queues in ARAM, speaks to a small, but loyal player base.

If they threw this game up on Steam, changed the monetization a little to make some cosmetics cash only, I believe Hots would find a wider audience. It still wouldn’t be as popular as LoL or Dota, but it seems a shame to just hide Hots in the menus and waste the talent of all the Devs and Art Department who made this such a fun game to play.

Is not totaly true there are still maps for fix.

I do acknowledge that. Haunted Mines for example was left in an unfixed limbo and still has issues for some heroes like Deathwing or Rexxar.

But it doesn’t concern the average player or detract from their enjoyment, because you can only play that map if you specifically go looking for it in Custom Mode, then invite friends to play it with you.

For the average player it’s an invisible map as it no longer appears in the map rotation for any mode for years now.
