Holy Crap Lois, the Forced Win/Loss Thing is True?

I always had my skepticism whenever I see it mentioned in forums or in discord. I vaguely remember a Blue speaking on this and from what ghost of information I can remember it didn’t feel like a big deal but really it’s way worse then I thought.

Ironically since the game is in a state of dead it’s not a big deal now, but after watching this video going over Blizzard/Acti documents it’s like being an atheist all your life and something major happens and now it’s like “Oh so there is a God”… Video Games Play YOU… (Not The Other Way Around)

If you’re enjoying the game keep playing it, if not then don’t. No point going over this topic anymore, the horse has been dead for a long time and the beatings aren’t even funny anymore.

It’s just every post I ever came across never lead to anything documents on this and I can’t remember exactly what the one Dev said on it so these topics have always be background noise to me, until now.

The one argument that was made against this is HoTs doesn’t have anything intelligent enough in place, I can agree on that but everything has a ground zero.
The abacus is like the first calculator and glasses make you a very low tech cyborg both of these are pretty humble but have lead to much greater things.
Whatever is in HoTs might be the grandfather for the programs in newer and more alive games of today. I find it fascinating (it’s sucks) but very fascinating that HotS could be a ground 0.

Microsoft deserves all that beating, and even more.

What is even more fascinating are those fanboys believing it is otherwise. HOTS was one of the best hope for MOBA back then. It has just been WASTED.

MS deserves customers to switch operating systems for their new dystopian Recall feature.

please tell me this is more than the 2016 activision patent all over again.

Should patents rule the world?

People forgot there are 100 of other games to play. Myself have spend most of my time in Guild Wars 2 and had a blast in it. People are friendly and there are lots of stuff to do.

Even more yeah, I got some great titles to play around here. HOTS had just something from Blizzard I used to love.

Imagine if HotS was still active and this sort of thing became more prominent. Under Activision they may have turned HotS into a slot machine like they did with CoD.

It is a blessing in disguise that HotS was put on the shelf when it did, otherwise we may have seen the game go down a path that we may not have cared for.

With that in mind there are other titels that was on maintaince mode that later on got shut down. Just thinking about Heroes of Newerth that closed two years ago.

Fortunately Blizzard’s track history of keep games online is stellar. I cannot recall them shuttering a game completely as Diablo II, Diablo III, the Starcraft games and…er…well I would throw Warcraft 3 but that one was fudged up pretty bad with Reforged.

Atleast they admited it and gave a refund the first month after release.

If it started back in 2016 and HoTs would just be the testing ground / the first iteration of something wouldn’t there be a chance it’s fully operation now? Remember AI created stuff was a hot funny mess and it did not take long for AI to became a less funny slightly more scary threat.
They had from 2016 to now to work on this, seems very unlikely to be just sitting on this and less so to not have tried it out in very rudimentary fashions.

I’m not sure if that blue post was here, or the old forums. There are far too many repeat topics about this issue, I’m too lazy to search through to find the relevant post.

Maybe someone kind here will give you a link to it.

Down a path like HOTS did?

I dunno, when people talk about this its always about how if your winning to much the game gives you a forced loss while the patent says they do it the other way around. If your losing to much, then you get a win.

What bugs me about this topic is people tend to look at it in the most pessimistic way possible. Just makes hard to believe because they are salty about a match and refuse to actually look back on how the game was played and try to learn from it.

If anything, this system should be to the benefit of the losing players…

Maybe we’ll get cameos from Lighthammer and JeanFrancois.

Problem sir is that RANDOM is supposed to mean RANDOM. Not scripted…

But match making has hasn’t been pure random in almost anything for decades.
