Heroes on iPad Pro?

Hear me out. We all know how iPad Pro are becoming the “replace your laptop” device. They have attachable keyboards that allow them to type like they are on a laptop, but they’re just using their super portable iPad. Yes you could purchase a laptop to play for around the same price as an iPad Pro, or maybe even cheaper, but what if you already have an iPad Pro and don’t want to sell it because you use it for a lot of things and don’t care about buying a Windows laptop because you’re in the Apple ecosystem?

What would you guys think of a iPad Pro version of HotS?

Here’s the requirements (you must have in order to play the game):

  • Attachable keyboard designed for iPads
  • Mouse connectable by either Bluetooth or USB using a dongle of some sort.
  • Added cursor in the game to make it PC like.
  • Stable WiFi connection.

The game will run exactly how it runs on PC as far as mechanics are involved and updates are released at the same time to prevent conflictions between PC players and iPad players.
Won’t be available on mobile phones by any means. It has to strictly be an iPad Pro (not any other tablets because Android runs on so many different brands so there will be optimization issues and Blizzard doesn’t need that stress right now).

Do you have any issues with this? I know the developers should put their attention elsewhere to make this game an overall better experience for everyone but assuming they had the resources without taking away from their regular development team. We all know if they did this right now we’d see less frequent balance updates, reworks, heroes, and other updates for the game. BUT, what do you think of this idea? Would it work? Would it be something cool? What changes would you make to my idea? Or do you think it should stay as a PC game.

So tired of all the threads about whiners and Qhira so I wanted to make an interesting thread that is out of the ordinary. Thought it might be fun.

I’m ready for extreme backlash for this. Bring it on!

For that money I rather upgrade my pc

I think the target audience is too small. Most people who own a modern Ipad Pro which is capable of running HotS are not the sort of person to play HotS.

Fair points. You’d be able to build a whole other PC with that money, but that’s not the reason for doing it. The reasoning is if you already have an iPad Pro but no PC/laptop.

But that’s where this makes sense

That’s probably true. It would be a poor decision for Blizzard to do that if its not cost efficient. However the App store is notorious for making you pay for quality apps. There could be a price for it. Let’s say you have the iPad and found out about the game and want to play it but sadly you don’t have a computer to be able to play it. Even if it costed $10 on the app store, $10 is better than buying a whole other PC/laptop. If people bought it, it would bring in some money for Blizzard. Not $10 though lol

No wait, a better idea. Phones!

Lol…a stable WIFI connection…lol…just…lol >.<

What did your wallet do to you to deserve this disrespect and abuse?

Speaking just for myself. I have a certain threshold of how complex a game should be on my phone or tablet, above that threshold is where it really belongs on a console or PC.

The phone and tablet are meant to be portable and primarily are there as a connection to the internet. If I’m playing games on them it’s because I’m on break at work or I’m waiting for a friend to meet up with me or something. I don’t have a lot of time, and the games need to be quick enough that I can quit without losing a lot of progress.

HotS is not one of those games. It’s involved, it’s complex, and I can’t just open it up because I’ve got a few minutes of free time. If I ever am playing HotS, I’ve made the conscious decision to sit down and play for a set period of time, and why would I want to use a tablet when the PC has more muscle to show and support a proper game?

If there was a simple arcade-like game based on HotS that was a really boiled down version of the gameplay, then I’d be interested… but if I wanna play HotS, I’m gonna be on my computer.

So I guess that’s a no lol
I was expecting these kinds of replies.

Meh, honestly I don’t even have an iPad. I just wanted to see what discussions would arise.

If Blizzard buy me one, i’m in. :stuck_out_tongue:

I saw what you did there.

How are you going to have high apm and stutterstep on lost vikings using an iPad? Primary thought: Severe handicap to your teammates.

I literally play HoTs in my surface pro. Essentially, the windows version of the IPad.

Your dreams are my reality…

I mean LOL NO in no world is an iPad a laptop replacement unless all you do is word processing , reading e-mail and surfing the web.

with a mouse? You do it like you would on the PC.
Ask this guy

Except this isn’t my DREAM. its just a forum thread.

That’s what they claim isn’t it?

Come on. So far this is the only legitimate response.

Like the Microsoft surface? Is Apple 5 years behind again?

In that case you sold your soul already and may the light save you.

While I do think that expanding the platform is a good thing, the resources are simply not there. The check device / keyboard / mouse / WiFi alone might be harder to implement than some of the things this community asks for.

Are there any games out there in which pc and “mobile” players are playing together? Successfully? I really don’t know.

dumb, because the sheer amount of development time it would take.

If you want to “theorycraft” where there is plenty of development and they add people to work on this, sure…

Honestly, HotS RUNS ON OSX. Er, i mean MacOS. Or is it macOS (no capital m)?

Is there anyone in the Apple Ecosystem who plays games and lacks a laptop of any kind? Because, er… That seems odd to me.

Apple has plenty of issues, but they did have pseudo attachable keyboards with the first iPad.
If we’re going to criticize Apple–and there is plenty to criticize–let’s do real criticisms please.
