I’ve used the Heroes of the Storm Wiki for all kind of stuff. But the Wiki was moved to a new Wiki-Software recently and every single page of the Heroes Wiki is partly trashed by the transfer.
For example: each Hero-Page included a Sub-Heading for the Abilities and the Talents. Theses parts of the wiki are now completely empty. Former Versions of the pages are not available, so that a simple restoration of the data can’t solve the data loss.
I’ve got a notion that the admins over there are unable to cope with the work they have to do to get the wiki back in shape. Maybe there is something we can do, to help them?
I submitted a ticket to them last Friday, I don’t know what else to do. I hope people who are affected by it contact them as well so the issue gets on their radar.
The site had unique information (including very precise timings, cast times, channels etc) collected on a lot of talents which is hard or impossible to obtain anywhere else now.
Some of it was painstakingly datamined and documented by private individuals, some data from very hard to find obscure developer posts on sites like Reddit or from bits of interviews.
The site is practically useless now because those sections are missing due to the transfer.
Fortunately for some heroes, pages are archived by the internet archive, but not for all (or for some heroes, not since 2017). It’s just missing the icons.
Unless you screenshotted the wiki before it was trashed, I doubt anyone remembers the “hidden” info the tooltips don’t tell us. In fact, the game doesn’t even tell us the range of abilities. I know ZJ level 20 bounce talent range is 5.
Alternatively if anyone has access to software to make a wiki, I would be willing to pay for hosting (up to a limit, I imagine the cost for it wouldn’t be crazy high).
I refuse to use or edit Wikia. One of the few companies that is both bad AND I’m able to avoid. The second part is the hard part with most companies today.
It’s maybe not as critical as it looked yesterday. The Admins of gamepedia are aware of the problem and most of the wiki pages exist at least on spanish.
So it is not everything lost
