Hero Difficulty

I’ve been playing on/off for about 3 years, I was just hovering over heroes portraits and it seems hero difficulty rating is outdated.

For example, I wouldn’t rate Aba as being ‘very hard’ now. Illidan is rated as medium, but I would have him as very hard now.

Heres a few others, just as an example

Gazlowe - medium but should be hard
Thrall - easy but should be medium
Rehgar - medium but should hard
Tyrande - medium but should very hard
Zarya - easy but should hard
Tyrael - Medium but should hard
Azmodan - Medium but should easy

Raynor - easy but should be easy.

Very easy. We need a new category.

It’s a general guideline.

It’s NOT supposed to be perfect.

There are so many other things that trump the importance of this issue.

This is a nonissue, please don’t waste dev time on things that don’t matter much and it’s a thing that someone will always disagree and think you are wrong about no matter how you rate them.

Abathur is hard to play well. He’s ‘easy’ to play if you just bot through the whole game.

I’d keep abathur where he is. Playing him well is very hard. You need a lot of map awareness and you need to be at least competent with most characters if you’re ever gonna use his clone, which you should because monstrosity is still an ult of limited usefulness

Thrall’s pretty easy. All you gotta do is know when to go all in, so basically all melee would be medium then.
Rehgar is easy. I’ve played him like twice. He’s easy.
Tyrande isn’t very hard, but then again I play her a lot. I seriously doubt it’s that hard to auto attack things and aim a bit.
Zarya is the easiest hero on this, the Earth planet.
Tyrael, played him once, not hard. I’m stupid, and he wasn’t hard.
Azmodan should totally be easy, thank you.

Good Abathurs are less than 1% of the player base. I love having a good Abathur on the team but sadly it’s very rare.

Most people who pick him don’t body soak, never symbiote the right target, never pick Mule when it’s appropriate, don’t know how to use other heroes abilities in Ultimate Evolution and in general just ruin the match.

I agree tyrande and malfurion should become hard heroes.

Derp easy as carbot raynor is

The post isn’t directed at devs, just community discussion. Although I’m sure if the devs did decide to reclassify them, it would be a relatively simple job.

Thats why I would rate him ‘hard’ rather than ‘very hard’. Since the changes we see a lot of people playing a hat build. Its no longer essential to have excellent map awareness… of course there are excellent players out there who still soak lanes as well, but it has become less of a necessity now.

I should have stated in the OP that I mostly play quick match. So whereas Reghar could be easy to play with the right comp, often in QM when you select Reghar you’ll teamed with a bunch of ranged squishies, and you’ll be the only melee against a enemy team of ranged heroes.

With Ty I feel a lot of people choose the wrong level 1 talents, or don’t know how to get the best out of them. Of all the healers Ty is the only one where I’ve seen some truly horrible healing output.

Ah, I see. So it’s more like if you know generally what you’re doing, then they’re easy. Generally a bad comp can make any hero hard, though, lol.

As most have already said, its a guideline. Its fair, and balanced, for HotS that is

A base stat for an average gamer, one that is just picking up the game, and those that are younger

Through the eyes of a brand new player, the hero roster is large and somewhat overwhelming. They might choose a hero to play based on factors such as whether they look cool.

The skill rating hopefully makes them rethink playing a challenging hero right out the gate. If they do choose that hero and their performance sucks, at least they can understand why.

Beyond that of a new player, the skill ratings hold little value.

I didn’t even realize there were difficulty levels put next to the heroes when I started. I just sort of clicked on whoever and was like, “Yes, okay, this could work.”
