It was removed during the October 16th, 2018 patch (Mal’Ganis release), probably due how unbalanced the map is.

If you really want to try it, the map is still in the Custom Games tab.

Was a rather fun map, but as mentioned abit wierd as a team easily got out of hand, camps were more important than the objective at times, though it forced all new strats, they will hopefully come up with a similar map or revamped map soon.

Haunted Mines was removed as when SamiSha have said.

Partly because of how unbalanced it is and how mercenaries affects the map more than the objective themselves.

i can’t wait for it’s rework to be done. i want to play it again i enjoyed it despite people only “wanting to do camps” instead of object i mean you can still kill the camps before they hit your fort etc but i think it’s so hard for some people to do that so yeah.

What rework? Didn’t they precisely say the map is disabled indefinitely in one of the dev AMAs on Reddit?

huh they decided it’s not coming back? i heard it was being reworked a while ago. and i don’t care about reddit

it would be nice to have a map where you have to use completely different tactics to play. at the moment our objectives are go get a seed or stand on a shrine. would like if they add something complete different to what we have now.

Unfortunately they basically said they don’t know how to balance it and make it fun atm and so is currently just on the backburner

It’s gone forever because most people don’t have the attention span for anything more complicated than ‘go to lit up spot and mash buttons until one side or the other is dead’. Sad too, it was my favorite map.

Removed indefinitely until they come up with a suitable rework. You can still enjoy it in Custom Mode, I think.

This was a pretty fun map. I’d play Haunted Mines over Hanamura any day.

Nah, Hanamura’s awesome. Drop Blackheart’s Bay instead.

You misspelled “Warhead Junction”.

I agree Warhead Junction is bad and only slightly better than Hanamura.

Why is the balance so hard? Mercs were the problem, so why not just tweak the mercenary damage/health a little? Seems pretty easy to play with, especially now that there aren’t professional tournaments full of whiny pros.

Hanamura is pretty balanced tbh, I like what they did with it after the rework.

warheads is a bad map just like blackheart’s coins. not bay however these 2 maps are horrible but instead of remove those they removed haunted mines while they could just make it better instead. like they did to hanamura whatever

It was mainly due to how separated the objective was from the camps. On a normal map, the objectives, lanes, and camps are either close, or weak enough in isolation that a single camp pushing top lane isn’t so much of a crisis that you have to drop everything to deal with it.

With Haunted Mines, the objective was completely separated from the lanes and camps, so if you were doing the objective, the enemy team could just take everything on the “regular” map, and push everything in to the point it was tough to recover, especially against something like a Merc Queen Sylvanas. It was to the point that everyone always pretty much ignored the first objective, and just played the map like a two lane ARAM.

Even weakening the camps wouldn’t help if the enemy team was loaded with heroes capable of high siege damage. The whole map design, while really neat, is fundamentally flawed.
