Has the Dev team ever made a meaningful change to how the game functions because of the Forums?

I mean other than a hero change like Garrosh’s groundbreaker pulling enemies closer, cause things like that were broken and it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that needed to be fixed.

Has the way drafts are made, or complaints are reported, or user interfaces changed just because some guy on the forums talked about?

Yes, a lot of changes.

The patch notes says it all in the bug fixes section.

Bug fixes isn’t what I had in mind since those are just errors, not suggestions from the community.

The lack of responses to this topic is depressing but not surprising.

In that case, you aren’t paying enough attention of what is being discussed here and what is being changed as a result.

Also devs don’t have to respond to everything and that doesn’t mean they aren’t listening either.

Things don’t change just because of some guy. What happens is a lot of people talk about something, which brings it to developer attention. One person can inspire a lot of conversation, but it will only happen if a lot of people agree.

Take for example the new Mastery Rings. People complained about losing the gold dump and the ability to easily “flash” skill level when Master Skins were removed. Mastery Rings are a new implementation of the concept. This did take about two and a half years since it was low priority, but this is still community feedback about a minor thing that found its way in-game.

That’s not to say you shouldn’t try. If you genuinely believe you have a good idea and want to share it with the community, share. If it’s good, more people will spread it. If more people spread it, it ends up on Blizzard’s radar.

EDIT: To be clear, the point of gaming forums isn’t to force daddy Blizzard to listen to your demands. It’s to pitch your ideas to the broader community. If the devs are actually taking notes, that’s a bonus.

dude you posted 2 hours ago damn

I’m sure people will answer you. Also don’t forget reddit.

From what I recall right now, talking about Garrosh’s q, his animation was changed. Rework Raynor’s trait name was changed from “acquire weak spot” to “give 'em some pepper”.
Like right now there’s the Whitemane thing.

That’s all that comes to my mind right now but there’s a lot like in A LOT that was changed from community ideas/suggestions from the forums/reddit.

If I remember correctly, devs litteraly said they nerfed Hanzo from community feedback despite their data showing he was balanced and even had a <45% winrate
don’t remember when but this happened for example
and same for Chromie, they changed her design and especially her w. Multiple times to finally get where we’re at with her now. All because of community feedback

the unfun mantra has been from forum feedback
direct hero balance, esp for concerns on reworks
kerr getting a rework (not the specifics, but the effect)
chen “” “”
raynor “” “”
the phrasing of blizz numbers for changes posted in dev notes
invis rework (eye test)
possession/mind control on sylv
map rotations
artifacts
veteran chest reward at 2.0
some ability visibility
… to name a few off the top of my head

the title is i loaded question to try to mask that you’re not willing to pay attention

See all above, they also changed transactions and loot boxes because of complaints. Tassadar is getting a rework due to community nagging. If anything they listen too much.

Ppl asked for more bans, we got more bans.
Ppl asked for to be able to buy gem-only skins individually and not with bundles and now everything is obtainable outside of bundles with gems and even with doritos.
Ppl asked for promotion/demotion to disappear and here we are. They also asked for placements to be less of a big deal and now it’s only 3 games which are not able to skyrocket your mmr.
Ppl asked for soloQ in TL and now here we are with SL.
Ppl asked for more balanced QM comps and we got it, then latter they complained about Q times and asked for it’s removal and here we are.

If you actually care what is talked about here and pay attention, and you read the dev comments, they often do stuff to please their playerbase’s desires.
