So i’ve been playing Gul’dan for a bit now and I feel like he has a lot of potential but I’m not sure if he’s good in ranked or not. I am currently Bronze 4 Demotion game and i was just wondering whether I should play Gul’dan as many people point out that lower ranked games people tend to forget to soak etc etc. I usually focus on E build for Gul’dan I.e Corruption to put out as much damage as possible but in solo ranked should I focus on W or Q builds or always keep on focusing on the corruption build?
I know that Gul’dan is a good hero for solo lane soak as well as bullying people with decent damage and self sustain but is there anything I should know bout Gul’dan that would help me climb in the ranks?
Yes, great actually. He has all the tools for climbing low ranks
- good at soloing merc camps
- Great at lane clear
- Nice self sustain
- impressive damage
- Ult that has massive Crowd Control
His one weakness is that he has no escape until level 20 or for you to solo ult someone.
Try to pick him vs enemy teams with no or few divers
Good luck

One of the best heroes to climb out of low rank with, he can also stay in lane forever with Life Drain. Since OP is at Bronze 4 he will probably get games where his lane is completely empty too, so he gets to push the waves back very fast with no opposition.
Guldan is okay. The main issue is he will kind of miss the consistent healing from like, malfurion whitemane or auriel, that you would be able to count on at higher ranks
ANY hero is a good pick in Bronze. You can’t pick a bad hero in bronze at all. Play whatever you want.

On a low rank, the hero does not matter, the composition does not matter. It is important if you know how to play it well and whether you feel you have an influence on the game.

This is the best universal Guldan build. The most important are the talents from level 1 and 16. The rest can be chosen freely, as convenient as you. Just never take Dark Bargain from level 13 - it is unplayable.
Guldan is good, but personally I think that Nazeebo spiders-build is easier.

Morales isnt a good pick tho
I think Gul’dan is excellent to climb out of bronze. Since as others said, you can do camps on your own (really important thing but don’t do it when the lanes are not soaked, so you won’t lsoe xp), can bully the enemy 1v1, don’t need to use fountain or hearthstone that often as others, has good dmg and Horrify can decide teamfights on its own.

Morales is awesome, so is Guldan
Guldan is probably one of the best heroes to climb in any rank tbh. High waveclear wins in any rank. People never macro well, so if you can just rotate and soak, you will put your team really far ahead in exp, which can lead to an early 10 and snowball the game from there. He is also amazingly strong in teamfights. His ult is also one of the best in the game to confirm a kill or even save you if you really need it.
As for builds, go with the standard one:
Level 1 - E quest
Level 4 - Consume Soul (this helps your sustain and it’s a nice burst heal when the enemy dives you)
Level 7 - Hunger for power
Level 10 - Horrify
Level 13 - Healthstone (another really good burst heal, save it for fights mainly)
Level 16 - E
Level 20 - Ult upgrade is really good to burst someone down pretty fast, -20 armor is huge. You could take Demonic Circle as well, but you should be safe enough and won’t need it, especially in lower ranks. If you do take it, don’t put it on your base; put it close to where you are fighting so you can use it to escape a potential dive but join the fight again soon.

If you want to pick 1 hero just to get out of bronze hell play zagara/sylvanas/gaz and push the lane, take camps and split push other lane.
Destroying enemy core wins and it’s as simple as that.
People on bronze level don’t move from mid lane during first 5 minutes, you can push fort or at least gates and fountain during this time.
I agree, rain of destruction OP

i dont think so. when you run into Guldans that still havent finished echoed corruption by Level 20 then you will understand why. you dont see this problem with other mages.
imo Jaina, KT, Ming are all much more friendly to pick up and use while they have the eventual higher skill ceiling available to them for combos. some more than others.
i would say that if you cant consistently land 2+ quest hits on corruption on most of your casts then dont even bother with Guldan in ranked. play him him QM until you are good enough because that is literally most of his damage.
I would not be surprised if you can win a solo lane with morales in bronze with just stutter step + AA.
Plus you can still heal minions with her so you can create giga waves.
I mean, our friend here is not a bad Guldan so he definitely finished E quest around level 16
It’s really easy to get stacks in any rank tbh. I usually finish quest in less than 10 min easily. You should be a really bad Guldan if you can’t finish it or the enemy was smart enough to just outmacro you and never give you stacks, which is also fine.
He’s good but so are any offlane heroes. Give you the most power to influence the game independent of your team. If you can force rotations top on braxis you’re forcing a 4v3 bot lane which gives your team advantage. But as good as guldan is at hronze 4 you should be filling team. This is how i climbed. You are there for a reason and are not a pro streamer on an alternative account who can really carry. Mages are some of the most picked heroes try to learn healers/tanks who can really set your team up for wins. If you can tell people when to grab camps you’ll be climbing in no time
Is it even possible for a grandmaster smurf to climb out of bronze playing only Morales? I’d bet on no. I think out of all heroes, healers have the most trouble climbing out of lower ranks in solo queue, while tanks and mages are the easiest. In bronze, your best tools are soaking exp and body blocking to get kills.
I’ve only played one game in bronze that was carried by a healer. It was a Tyrande smurf who ended up with top kills and damage and nobody could even get close to killing her. I’m guessing that Tyrande was at least a master level player.
If you’re a silver or gold level player, you’ll probably never get out of bronze playing healers, but you’d be able to move to your proper rank as tank or DPS.
If you’re a platinum or higher level player, I’d bet on melee assassin being the quickest way to climb to the higher ranks. Nobody in lower ranks knows how to deal with Kerrigan, Maiev, or Zeratul.

I did it. Morales is a v good carry healer bc the enemy lacks the coordination needed to get after her. If they go for double mage comps (which is common) morales can safely through out 150k plus healing which is ridiculous and gurantees your team a win. In lower ranks bc people wont hearth and make many mistakes a good healer decides the matchup. GM have carried with healers but often have micro play so refined that they can more easily take an assassin, dodge skillshots and carry the team that way. Gold players in bronze do not have that micro play but let the gms get into their heads. They try to “carry” but cant dodge the dmg and end up getting killed overextended (as they see gm’s do in videos bc they know they are safe regardless of position) then blame healer or tank. They need to embrace the environment theyre in and empower team rather than try to carry.
