Ran into a bunch group of 5 kids with the name “Fun Ruiner” and other variations of that, on Battlefield of Eternity who just sat around for an extra 15 mins refusing to end the game when we clearly lost.
Shout out to this group of losers - you definitely ruined the fun of QM. I can only hope a report will do something (it won’t)
Only tried that once. Game was 45 min long. The 5 stack refused to do object and just ran around looking for us so they could farm us more. Game ended on catapults destroying our core while they danced infront of us. Then one of them /w me with every kind of mocking emojies. We only had two players left when core got down. The rest had left long ago and probably ended in leaver que because of them.
if it took more than a few minutes for the game to end, then it wasn’t lost, people just gave up instead. I guess it’s supposed to be somehow empowering for you that they’re the subject of mockery in this instead of the side that quit.
A bit of a different situation but I remember one game when I and my friends were winning hard so the losing team refused to keep playing and started b-stepping infront of us, so we joined in and it ended up all of us b-stepping the hell out of it. It was a game about who would start fighting first again and since noone did, the game took pretty long. Tho we all had our fun it seemed and there was some kind of consensus about it…
While I understand your skepticism, I’ve had two matches (both on Towers of Doom) where I experienced what the OP described.
My team didn’t give up until after 35 minutes, but why did you give up, you ask? The answer is simple, the enemy team vastly outclassed the skill of my team. When our team engaged the enemy, they would almost instantly wipe us every time. When we tried gaining advantage elsewhere, by split pushing etc., same story.
The thing is, I’ve never posted about this until now, because it has occurred exactly twice, in the almost ten years I’ve been playing Hots, so I don’t think it’s a commonplace problem, or worth complaining about.
To give the OP credit, they didn’t use this post as a reason to request a surrender function, what they went through can feel very frustrating, so I get the complaint, even if it might be overstated.
If your team is the one who does it then it might be for you. But for everyone els its just waste of time and bad sportsmanship. In real life people like them would have no one to play against cause everyone refuse to play with you.
I can accept a surrender butten if it means it cant be activated before after a specific lvl. How people rage quits now for no reason then trolls and rage quitters would hold thier team hostage until everyone clicks it if it was open to use at lvl 1.
Surrender button should only activate when a leaver is on the team since in any real competitive scenario the bot is worse than dead weight.
Other than that there’s absolutely 0 reason to care for it as comebacks are more than possible in this game barring extreme skill gaps (and I’ve seen weirder happen, most of my friends are Bronze and I’m Gold/plat depending on role and I’ve seen us win against “Diamond” stacks before due to their overconfident push etc.
At least, before the AI was “improved”, the bot behavior wasn’t the complete dead weight it is now on almost every hero is the roster. The further detriment to having a bot, is not everyone knows how to ping it, or say, if the hero is Valla, your ally Illidan player should really not ping Valla to follow their commands. Pinging the AI, also requires the player controlling it to micromanage it, which can sometimes be stressful considering how bad most bots perform.
I agree, this would be helpful in SL in theory, but it could also encourage players to leave matches they deem “lost in draft”, or some such silly excuse. The leaver punishment should be adjusted to be less forgivning if surrender became an option.
