Genji needs buff!

Hi Blizzard, i have suggestions for changes that will put an end to genji’s low win rate and maybe bring him back to the finish line! He’s a really fun hero and we want to see him making an impact on the game, so here we go:

Increase swift strike damage by 5
increase the auto atack range by 0.5 increase the natural range of the auto atack by 1.

I’m going to counter all your arguements by saying the following.

“No. Git Gud.”

???
no idea what you mean.

that being said, i have no issues if he got baseline back part of the range he lost a long time ago.

What is the “natural range of the auto attack” when compared to “auto attack range”?

Can’t decipher this post. He could use improvements or small buffs but I don’t get it.

Did you by any chance mean increase Shuriken range by 0.5 and auto by 1?

Genji’s a tough hero to buff, he’s still good in the hands of a skilled Genji, but he has the potential to be far, far too strong.

44% w/r in masters is NOT strong. Ex HGC players saying he feels TERRIBLE on stream is NOT strong.

Where do I say he’s currently too strong?

Blizzard should buff genji’s range of his trait if they’re going to keep it at 20 second cooldown. 20 seconds is so garbage for that short range

Strong/good, potato/potAto. Point is, if ex HGC players are saying he feels TERRIBLE, no amount of skill is going to make up deficits where it counts.

Except you’re ignoring the fact that in Master/Diamond he has a build that’s 61% winrate. This means he is not weak in the right hands+situation.

No one is saying he’s in a good position, he obviously needs buffs, but the problem is that buffs to Genji are extremely difficult.

Genji is one of those heroes who is hard to balance. Even now with a low win rate a good Genji can wreck a team and be annoying to deal with, randomly jumping in at the perfect time to kill you. He is incredibly good in poke heavy teams as a finisher.

That total game played is 47 from a single patch.
If you include the previews patch since his last balance update, that same build is at 50.68% win rate on 146 games.

So he goes from a winrate that’s considered balanced, to one that’s at 61% winrate(disregarding that I went back each timeframe and most of this were 53%+). Can you guys get over the meager semantics yet? You are literally avoiding the point with meaningless banter.

I’m waiting for this conversation to evolve from “well I don’t think skilled Genji’s are any good” to: “Genji has a history of being extremely powerful at high ranks.”

50,6% is fairly balanced. Not the strongest hero but if he can achieve this at top MMR over a few patches he seems okay.

Medivh and Genji will never be good at average MMR anyway. Neither will Probius or TLV.

Of course, when comparing him to other heroes at top MMR, he doesn’t do very well. But it’s still a positive win rate.

That being said I’m all for trying whether he could be balanced again with the nerfs he’s gotten, but his AA range back at 5.5 baseline.

That’s a single build path with low games played. Now, you can imagine how the other builds might look like when the hero is at an average 44% win rate.

(Filter used: Last 10 patches, must be over hero lv5, Master+Diamond)

Well that’s interesting… I couldn’t find any build that was even 50% actually (agile dismount+shingan comes close), when going back more than a month.
(Build#1 does get exactly 50,00% if you only filter by level 15 and above Genjis)

And it just drops to atrocious numbers like 28-36% when filtered by lower leagues like Bronze-Gold with the same attributes.

Maybe he is slightly undertuned.
He needs to be top MMR and above lv15 just to break even in win ratio.

We also have to take into account average winrate at high MMR is >52% (Masters and up) or >51% (Diamond and up). If that is taken into account, he’s still below average.

Genji needs massive improvements on his W. Itis very bad, long CD, easy to counter, high mana cost and it’s very conditional damage.

This means that this build worked in 47 really specific games. 47 games just means he is so niche, but so niche, that he is incredibly niche, which means he is niche and you’re just better picking any other hero

ps: these games could just be pros winning against diamonds, which they can just do with any hero in the game, which also doesn’t mean genji is good or even that the build works.

I also wonder, what patches were those builds in. If you select enough recent patches he didn’t even win half his games at master+dia.

If he struggles to even maintain 50% wins by top players, that is a hero issue rather than player issue.
