Heroesprofile has 159336 replays added in the last 37 days. Since that excludes certain modes, and only represents a small portion of the populace, so there’s more activity in HotS than some of the ‘trending’ games visible on steamcharts.
Aside from the magic announcement of these game having been in maintenance mode for years, patch frequency has gone up in recent months, new items were added to the shop (despite the claim there were no plans for such) and a previously removed mode has been added back in, albeit it probably hasn’t been updated to accomodate changes made to the game since it was removed, that could be changes made in the coming months with whatever little support the game has.
That’s the funny thing about declaring an extreme: the smallest bit proves it’s more than nothing.

Took you a few years to find out, and you’re still in the first stage: denial. I’ll give you a heads up: next stage, you’ll be angry and going to blame a lot of things for game’s failure, when in reality the game is basically ‘Social Programs: the MOBA’. The best player is not only supposed to win for the worst player, but also keep him afloat. In terms of other MOBAs, the best player is the jungler and he’s forced to gank the losing lanes despite knowing it’s suboptimal.
