Fix the draft #4

This is on Tomb of the Spider Queen and this time, it’s a little bit more challenging. You have to draft for both teams. The left team picks first.

The left team will have to address the lack of wave clear and kill potential with CC while the right team will respond to it.

Shall I continue doing these posts or is it too much?

I would have left team go with Arthas.

Portal/speed boost that sucker in there and let slow aura do its thing. Right team doesn’t really have any ways to escape once Arthas is on them. Summon sindragosa would also really help with pushing with spiders.

Dunno what the best tank in response for right team would be. I would have gone with Garrosh but that was banned.

Left side is an obvious Stitches pick for the classic kidnap comp. He has decent wave clear, and the right side doesn’t have any way to prevent hooks and portal ganks.

Right side is an equally obvious Johanna pick with trait build to try and eat the hooks for her team. Good wave clear, blinds to assist Cassia and negate Artanis, and a fair amount of CC which the right team lacks.

I would also pick Stitches or Arthas on the left side but for the right side it’s clearly Varian.
So many shields to shatter

Right side has no mosh interupts. Would pick etc for left

Right side ill pick malganis

You entertain/educate the forum and since everyone is free to participate, when he has time or interest. Why should it be too much? To be clear just do it, it isn’t too much.

On topic:

Wow increased difficulty with two variables now. Let’s see.

On both sides a tank is missing, obviously.

My number one choice for both sides would be:

#1 Varian.

  • Both twin and taunt would work here, at least in my lower elo, but since two teams has blind theoretically taunt is favoured.

#2 ETC

  • preferable for Lucio’s team, because it’s hard to interrupt for D.Va’s team, even though there is Bunnyhop and Blackhole.

#3 Johanna

  • good wave clear, good cc
  • preferable as counter if Lucio’s team picks ETC

#4 Blaze

  • Like Johanna, except no counter for ETC.

Don’t worry about it, they are very educational.

Oh, that’s easy, left team picks Arthas and right team picks Illidan. Easy left team win. I’ve solved HotS.

For the left team i would ouright ban the Artanis player, but lets solve the draft. Both teams need a tank.

For the left team: ETC, Johanna, or a really good Blaze.

Right team: Garrosh, Johanna or ETC. Edit: No Garrosh, banned

Ofc either team can get a little juicy here with an additional bruiser pick on this map, which could give a surprise element.

One sided, you have cheated. Go back to the drawing board.

I’d go for Justing strat for team #1 with main tank Xul.
He’s perfect for this map with 2 supports, brings the wave clear and set up kills for Li-Ming’s combo every 10 sec. Whitemane has a cleanse only every 45 sec.

In response to it, team #2 should pick
Arthas [T1231123,arthas], he’ll sit on Xul, cleanse roots on himself, block Li-Ming’s combo with Ghouls and set up engage with Frost Presence.

Johanna [T3322212,Johanna] is not the strongest pick, but has decent value with Blessed Shield against 2 supports and Zealous Glare to annoy the front line and deny Xul’s value depending on the build he picks.

Team 1: On Spider Queen’s Lair needs more wave clear. Medivh, Ming, and Arty can do it but it’s suboptimal. I’d normally like cc here, but Tass and WM are both slow, so it’s not vital.

Leo - entomb ult, decent wave clear, good sustain
Blaze - played as a bruiser with E build for stuns, good AoE, good survivability
Dibbles - again played as a bruiser w/ charge build for battlefield control, dive
Azmo - strategy is to let him split while the unkillable 4 man ganks and harasses

Others have suggested Stitches and Xul. Both would be excellent.

Team 2: Mainly just needs tanking and ability to pin targets in place.

Varian - shield smash talents, good mobility, ability to negate burst from mages
Blaze - essentially same reasons as above
Dibbles - essentially same reasons as above
Johanna - speed condemn and extended blinds control Arty with Cassia’s blinds which really kills their damage

That’s today.

Seems familiar?
Classic Justing aka piTkiD.

gotta remember in drafts that there’s clearly the honor code that if one side doesn’t draft a tank, than the other can’t. So obviously the best move on the left side is to not pick a tank so that forces the right side to not pick one either :sunglasses:
(that means no tank-like bruisers, so no imperius )

Left side should then pick hogger to deny the hogger pick from the right side. While left has poke/portal gimmicks, they don’t have any way to stop d.va debuffs, so if hogger and dva are going to town, then the left side isn’t going to like that. Not one bit.

Similarly, hogger lootwalls can help block off enemies if artanis hits some godswaps, so the team power is definitely there!

Right said then takes Tyrande. If it weren’t for the artanis blind, i would say rehgar for bloodlust, but since there’s obvious disengage, tyrande has the right mix of ally buffs, enemy debuffs and cc to offset ming poke or medihv portals. Having a second healer helps whitemane go ham, and since she heals more the more damage she deals, then having those buffs and debuffs from tyrande makes whitemane that much the better

great plan everyone, high-fives all around :+1:

Left Team, Johanna, but they could also get away with Blaze with a Medhiv on the team.

Right team will either want ETC to try and control the portals, or can pick Johanna if the left team doesn’t.

If this is a high skilled game then left team needs a hero to combo with Li Ming. Choices like Arthas or Xul would work for that. Root and explode. Right team is mostly squishy so a single combo from Li Ming will kill isolated victims. Their healer will also struggle due to being self-rooted so even easier to combo.

Right team needs to stop this. Garrosh would be a reasonable option but banned. Blaze might work as he has access to spell damage reduction at a range and can body block with bunker or dive in if they are playing poorly. Anubarak would have also been a good choice since shutting down Li Ming would remove most of their damage, but they banned him. Zarya is a more out of the ordinary choice since she can shield block Li Ming burst damage, poke back line with grenades and also punish with a clustering attack which benefits all 4 other heroes who can punish multiple stationary targets. Normal root such as from Arthas or Xul would benefit most of the heroes, but Mediev can shield all that burst away from single targets or even many near targets.

Assuming the left side is picking in the order shown:

  1. Blaze is a good pick, as is Arthas. I also like Muradin here (but I like Muradin into anyone who doesn’t have a reliable silence or root).
  2. Assuming the left team goes with Arthas (like everyone is saying here), right team goes Jojo

Wildcard YOLO pick: Butcher.
