Been a top 1% moba player in most games, having a lot of fun learning HOTS, but doubt ill take ranked seriously given how long the grind feels due to odd matchmaking.
To put it simply, if I’m 70% win rate silver player, just match me in gold or low plat games… don’t give me a team full or 30% win rate players to balance things.
Enemy team doesn’t enjoy playing vs me, I don’t enjoy playing under these conditions.
Also, if someone has a 30% win rate, nuke their elo so they can have a chance at some wins, dont give them players like me to carry them, they wont learn anything that way.

Because of how team dependent the game is, even GM’s have 60-65% win rate at most (even on bronze->gm challenge accounts, after passing ~gold league).
If you really are a top tier player from other mobas don’t expect 90-95% solo win rates here.
You will get dragged down by various afks, trolls and feeders without tools to carry the bot or griefer (but even at a consistent 60%, you will eventually get to GM).
So yes, it is a grind or numbers game here even if you are a top level player.

What I find odd is the games logic when it sees a above avg player. Instead of challenging the player to by placing them in a higher elo game and rewarding them more elo for the win, it gives me lower win rate team member’s and rewarding me the same amount of elo post match lol.
Also, I don’t enjoy players on the other team whispering me complaining about smurfing, its not fun to be the bad guy.
That’s why we call it matchfixer and not matchmaker. Later on another reason to hold you back is the fact that you face 4 or 5 man groups and smurf teams. Also people who haven’t played for ages (no decay for Diamond 5 - 0 points and below) and people who play far out of their skill level (when they merged HL and TL everybody got a high rank).
The matchmaking and reporting system of HOTS are the biggest joke the internet has ever seen and either you can take what will happen or you will not be happy. You have been warned.
