Experience with forumers in-game

Hello all,

My ARAM started yesterday and some guy (won’t name him) says “look it’s Salmiak, the legendary forum troll”. Guy picks Samuro and I told him he picked one of my favorite heroes. I was trying to be nice. Instead the guy calls me a bad player and ping spams me multiple times for no reason. I was on Junkrat and ended up topping damage on the losing team, I was only one who got/setup significant kills. Not saying I did anything special since we lost and Junkrat is incredibly ez to play but I at least tried to play with an obviously bad team. Our tank was dying doing dumb stuff constantly and the forum guy was either trolling or extremely weak with Samuro. This guy had really low damage on Samuro. He was in last-place in damage and a significant amount of deaths. The other team had a Samuro that did like 3x his damage. I have the screenshot but no need to embarrass anyone.

He had a chance to carry that match and I would have gave him props if he managed to do it. He actually left game near end perhaps in shame but I just wanted to let him know that I forgive his poor behavior and Samuro is incredibly hard to play if you don’t know what you are doing in ARAM. I am not however a forum troll, that is a misunderstanding.

You know what’s funny though. People who I’ve argued with extensively on these forums are rarely toxic in-game and might not even notice me. I been playing for years after my posts without anyone mentioning it in-game. I remember a guy who was bitter toward my prior posts I was teamed up with from the forums. He had an absolutely phenomenal performance with Alarak and kind of carried our team. I told him he did an awesome job and pat him on the back. That still doesnt’ mean that I was wrong on the forums however, but I would read what he says a bit more closely now.

I just gotta ask if you guys think it is justified to ruin a match because you don’t like someone from the forums? I think it is not and that I did the right thing by still trying to win. My point is don’t let the bitterness from the forums make you into what you claim to hate.

Look man, I will be real with you, you are controversial with your takes.

I would not justify griefing though and I think everyone has the same sentiment here.

Also upload the replay on @ HeroesProfile I wanna watch → HeroesProfileAPI

Friendly reminder that only the numbers after a Battle Tag are unique, the name is not. Otherwise, I’ve bumped into the same “Player” a thousand times already. That is to say, be careful you don’t confuse FancyPants#2049 with FancyPants#1864.

As Sami already noted, nothing justifies people being jerks in game, but that’s hardly unique to the people who post on these forums.

Well you have been on this forum since 2022. So it could be someone who dont even post here anymore who knew who you were.

That’s reminiscent of my experiences with “[gm/fenix/tv/whatever]Shard”. He has dozens of alts, most of which are <200 accounts, and he’ll intentionally throw games if he’s paired with someone from the forums while being volatile in chat.

He’s not the only one that does that, but of those that do, they tend to name some of their alts after ‘commentary’ on the game and think themselves doing some sort of magic service in their poorly-thought out protests.

stuff like “balancedgame” or “bl1$$ucks”.

If it’s who I think you are talking about, I’ve also seen him trolling around ARAM. I’d just block and report him.

To everyone else, I can indeed confirm that a certain forum troll (who may or may not be anti-communist) does still play ARAM and does throw if he recognizes a forumies’ name.

Even if it is someone I dislike I casually stroll right next to them until we both acknowledge each other but generally I don’t chat a lot in game so who cares.

I’ve met at least one person that was from the forums (checked their numbers) but we didn’t acknowledge each other. They probably didn’t know who I was and the only reason I even noticed was because I was browsing the forums while they were online and was able to compare post to account.

If its Shard then just ignore him. He is a known troll that throws on purpose and were exposed doing that on Artanis in one of his games.

Most people can’t divorce their emotions from their actions in public. You’re asking too much of a normie lol

I replied to someone here, not knowing it was an alt of an alt, of an alt, of an alt, I regret any harm that caused.

This behavior is something I’ll never understand, and makes even less sense as the political stuff is almost never relevant to a niche forum, that has very little active traffic.
