I’ve been playing since beta, huge fan of this game, as are a lot of my friends. Been playing less in the last 4 or so years, but play on and off a couple times a year at least.
I came back today after a 3 month or so break, and wow, it was bad. Tried to give it a good 3-4 hrs to get warmed up and see how I’d do, but my warmup ARAM had an AFK, so it was over quick and not very fun. Did another, same story. Switched to QP - feeder troll on team. Did a QP - team was braindead beyond anything I remember this game being in all its years. Rinse and repeat.
I probably had 8 games in a ROW where there was a player on my team who was muted or actively trolling. What is going on here, and why is the playerbase like this? It’s really sad.

as you are aware, everyone on the forum is a mindreader and absolutely knows the context of your games, viewed replays, and has a complete answer. /s
Based on my experience, some fellows that share their own, and a skim of reddit, ‘most’ games are still normal games, but at the low end of the mmr or in leavers queue, they are plagued with afk/feeders, flamers, and a host of other issues.
HP suggests that an account called ‘friedbats’ took a break in april, but otherwise has been playing regularly enough to know how the game feels as there hasn’t been cause for dramatic change outside of someone being in leavers queue.

Keep in mind as a 5+ year returnee, you not only get ultra low MMR players on your side but also actual newbies who just created their account today.
You’re also quarantined into Cursed Hollow for about 10 games before being allowed in other maps.
The state of the game isn’t great, but your experience is with an MMR that has completely decayed to the point your account is treated as a new account in Quick Match.
I would give it a few more tries and possibly a premade party or two to see if you still get some joy out of the game.

at least 2 out of ever 3 games has a leaver. As a returning player, my experience has been horrible. If people aren’t afk, im up against absolute giga chads, while me and my team mates are still trying to shake the rust off. It hasn’t been a return to form, i can tell you that.
HoTS needs some love. I wonder if Blizzard are up to the task of salvaging one of their most promising games

Hasn’t been my experience. I haven’t had a leaver in over 15 games.
As explained above your account is treated as new until you’ve played enough games. So don’t expect other players in your games to be great at it.

Seriously how unlucky do you have to be. In the past two seasons of ranked ive had a single leoric tower feeder and maybe 2-3 afk. Thats out of about a hundred or so games.

But hey, at least your queue times must have been short and the games end quickly. It’s as if the bad games aren’t even happening.

I don’t have these issues that much. Maybe you are in the leaver queue. The leaver queue is the only place I have seen this stuff regularly.
Did you leave or drop out of a game recently? I know that if I have a connection issue and dont get back into the game fast enough, I’ll have to play in the bad boy queue for a bit. Yes it sucks but eventually, after you serve your sentence, you get put back into the regular population queue.
I have started playing Zeratul again in QM, and have been stomped each time. I’m up to five now. Not sure if it’s due to bad teammates or solid counters or me or all three. Only the last game had people bad-talking and a leaver.
To me it kind of feels the same way you described. What happened that made the game so unwinnable as Zeratul in the past month? He’s always been hard in QM, but it feels more hard lately.
