I think his true role is a steady damage autoattacker who does great cc after 10
A hero who relies on AA during TF without having great mobility like Maiev and Illidan will get kited easily. He doesn’t have the HP nor the bust dmg to sit in the middle of an enemy team smacking an Ana to death. But, sure, he can be decent into the 1v1, which doesn’t really matter in my opinion.
During teamfights he has his CC. He still has access to his W talents at 4 and 13
Aa is mainly to beat their solo laner.
You have incredible cc coming from both main tanks during objectives and etc can beat a couple of solo laners during laning phase
I don’t think AA build will ever be seriously viable for ETC. It doesn’t really fit his playstyle. Sure, he gets a couple AAs in while waiting for his combo to be back up, but building around those would give up a lot of value from his talents more suited to his main role, which is mass-disruption.
Also, Prog Rock just overshadows Guitar Hero too much – it heals ETC for close to the same amount, provides more consistent and reliable self-sustain both in and out of combat, and heals allies as well as ETC.
Guitar Hero would need some additional functionality at least to be worth seriously considering in most situations.
Lastly, there’s mana issues. ETC can already survive through a lot, but that can leave him full on health but dry on mana pretty quickly, even late-game. His AA build doesn’t really add that much more useful sustain, but it does drain his mana much faster due to the Guitar Solo CDR from Aggressive Shredding.
After reading the whole thing my advice is try it. Dont fixate about numbers.
Just see what he can do with that build
Ps etc is too squichy on tank standards. But as an offtank he can be decent
I faced E.T.C offlane yesterday and I’ve managed to deal twice as much physical damage than his AA build.
He couldn’t wave clear. I don’t recommend him in a 3 lanes map.
If he uses his spells to wave clear with Echo Pedal or Pinball Wizard, which comes very late for an offlaner, then he becomes vulnerable to ganks.
In a 2 lanes, maybe he’ll get enough value. Then again, to me, he feels boring to play.
If you’re talking AoE healing, okay I can see the point you’re making. If you’re talking ETC’s self healing you’re waaaay off base.
Prog Rock (No Aggressive Shredding)
Lvl 1 - 52 healing - total 208
Lvl 7 - 66 healing - total 264
Lvl 20 - 110 healing - total 440
Guitar Hero (Yes Hammer-On, no Aggressive Shredding, minus HoT increase)
Lvl 1 - 62 - potential total 744 - # of attacks to outheal Prog Rock: 4
Lvl 7 - 106 - potential total 1272 - # of attacks to outheal Prog Rock: 3
Lvl 20 - 176 - potential total 2112- # of attacks to outheal Prog Rock: 3
The potential self-healing of Guitar hero in most cases just outright stomps on Prog rock’s self-healing.
And if you still don’t believe me, just do the boss test. Enter Try Mode, use Prog Rock WITH Aggressive Shredding, and use Guitar Hero WITHOUT Aggressive Shredding, Prog Rock can’t even outheal Guitar Hero without aggressive shredding on a boss fight.
You’re forgetting that Prog Rock increases Guitar Solo’s healing by 100 per second once completed. So add 400 to each of those totals.
And I was talking more about HPS – the healing per tick – than total healing output. Kinda my bad for being vague, though.
If we’re talking about the full duration, including potential extended duration, Guitar Hero can, provided you are attacking every chance you get, heal more in total because it heals longer, but it takes until the late-game for it to achieve comparable HPS.
If you wanna play a lifesteal AA sustain tank, just play Tyrael. His kit is a lot better suited for the build.
Wait, did that change in the last six months, or is AA Tyrael still trash?
