It would be great if there was some way to return to an empty character select during draft after a player’s already shown a pick. That way, players don’t have to show characters they don’t have or can’t use in order to avoid locking in after they’ve already shown. I just finished a match where I clicked on Cho just to cancel out of a pick, and it accidentally turned the whole game upside down.

What’s the point of that? If you show an empty pick or a hero you can’t play it will end the draft if the timer expires. What’s the difference you’re wanting?
And btw Cho can’t be locked in unless another player is showing Gall and you both lock in the same turn.
I wonder if they picked cho because they don’t own that hero but another person picked gall but the player who picked gall owns cho’gall and it locked the two in draft because you just need one out of the two players to own him to play him. It used to work like that but that was a while back like when cho’gall first came out.
That’s true, but if someone showed Gall idk why they would hover on Cho. Just hover a banned hero and you won’t lock. I mean I guess if you have every hero unlocked there aren’t any heroes you can’t play, but there are always 4 banned heroes before the first pick… so that solves that issue.
I’m not sure what the actual issue the OP is talking about, but from what I understand, I don’t think there’s an issue at all.
Just pick a hero insteed of waiting 100 years for nothing.
There’s also the option of actually writing something in chat. Draft communication does not need to always be just a picture charade.
Actually, i kinda wish people would just show their picks more often.
And then there’s me who is slightly concerned that whoever I show gets potentially banned by my own team because of trolls. (or gamers tilted out of their minds)
If your really, actually, truly that paranoid, take something adjacent to what you want to play role wise.
Like hover ZJ if your looking to play valla.
Hmmm I wouldn’t call it paranoia when I’ve had it happen to me twice so far. That’s a very good solution though.
That would req your team to actually not be afk when you write to them. Half of your team will always be alt tapped out of the game doing something els while they wait for thier turn to pick.
I can still remember last time I played ranked some years ago and I was the banner. I asked who to ban. No answer so I had to decide what to ban even tho I have no clue. You cant reley on draft chat casue your team will always be afk when you try and ask something.

I mean who’s to say it would have happened more had I stopped the cycle early. Then I’d probably have 3 nickels. Or 5.

I mean I guess a blank wouldn’t hurt anyone, but still, you could have just picked a different hero (like a banned one) if you didn’t want to play Cho.
I know, I’m just saying it would be nice if I could cancel out of a choice completely rather than being stuck showing something I might not be playing.
Change to a pick you can play then? I don’t enter a draft if I can’t play at least several heroes. If my pick becomes unavailable I just instantly switch.
I am strongly biased against OTP’s too after being a Vikings OTP myself for a long time and seeing the problems it brought to my teammates.
Then show a banned hero until you know what you want to play if you don’t want to play what you originally showed.
Your idea wouldn’t hurt anyone its just pointless. Show a hero you want to play, or show a banned hero. Doing that will solve your hero.
I just wanna be able to show nothing again. Is that too much to ask for?
Like I said, it won’t hurt anybody, but your reasoning for it is stupid. There are always 4 banned heroes before anyone can pick so why not just use those? Or hold back on showing until you see what others lock in?
