I mostly wanted to share this because he said nice things about Heroes of the Storm again. But, the video is really good all around.
Nice.
First sentence killed me. OW gameplay both looks and feels great for the most part (except when I have no idea what any of the fifty projectiles flying around does while observing a match), but the amount of co-op we can expect for ~60 coins will never even closely match what many other great games can offer often at a much lower price. It’s a nice bonus but not appealing for a majority of players if multiplayer allows cross play among both versions of the game.
Creatively the franchise is bankrupt by now and reinventing things might be equivalent to making an entirely new game, too risky of a move. It is all about skins now, and there’s nothing wrong because the game has peaked.
I mean, he basically just said what’s on everyone’s minds.
Overwatch’s future is kind of hinging on this PvE Overwatch. But there’s a problem brewing here.
It’s the story.
Overwatch is a hodgepodge of diverse characters. But it’s a hodgepodge of diverse characters, that exist for diversity’s sake.
Creating a real narrative, not just “here’s fifty characters and here’s their 2 minute backstories” is going to be a challenge.
Personally, I feel like the “here’s fifty characters and here’s their 2 minute backstories” part wouldn’t be so bad if those backstories were given as an expansion pack, maybe even a free update feature, for the first game. But if that’s all the PvE story they’re adding for OW2 then I’m a bit skeptical
What’s the point of side objectives when majority of people fail to do them properly?
He’s saying that it’s more fun to have multiple paths to victory rather than funnel every player down one choke point.
In Heroes, the objective is very important, but you can also push, get mercs, and get kills to help contribute to the match. There are more things to do in a HotS match than in Overwatch, which encourages people to be more spread out and rewards them more for playing the game their way.
