Playing him on the PTR is interesting. He’s going to be a lane bully for sure. He’s like Gaz in that he can dominate the lane and tight area objective zones. His ults are really strong team fight tools for late game too. He plays like a fun meme hero but actually has the talent tree to be more than a meme. I can see people complaining about him already cause he’s not 2+2=4 easy to counter play tho.

New things tend to seem OP since we do not clearly understand them yet. After a week or two players will start to figure out the best counters and strategies for Hogger.

When I first saw Hog Wild, I thought I missed something, because it clearly looked like a heroic ability, but I was still waiting for the 3rd basic one…

Hogger is interesting since he has solid sustain options and wild new mechanics like dropping terrain and the spin. I can see this causing a lot of people to complain about him. I think he’s a fun meme type hero. You can do great things with him but only when played well.

You put it backwards 
The more I play around with the spin the less powerful it feels. They way it bounces is really inconsistent and it has a wind up that makes it weaker for escaping. My game on dragon shire had some good moments but mostly it’s just kind of meh right now.
He’s got lots of interesting area control and his damage is nice. His AA talent stuff is bait because it’s just not good. His slows are strong and his knock back into stun is great. His sustain is also pretty good but not the strongest either.
People will complain about his area control and CC for sure. Both his ults are very strong too and will see lots of calls for nerfs. Outside of those things I don’t think anything is particularly OP. All these things are going to get complaints just because Hogger is new and hots players really struggle to adapt.

played a little on pts and he seems like an aoe god with a dynamite build!
ya i worded it poorly. i mean its going to kill alot of ppl who play as hooger. 1 bounce the wrong way will put into harms way, away from the healer, away from your tank. its fun to use but thats about it. his other ability’s are great, trait broadline op if u can keep it up. but still will wait till hes live to see how he plays out

You hit the nail on the head. Every single hero that comes out people say they are OP, and I’ve said for years that the only reason they think that is because they don’t have familiarity with them, yet. I think it’s safe to say that the devs do test them a lot before releasing them to ensure balance so they are always pretty close to where they should be with only slight tweaks over time.
And some people claim that the devs purposely make them OP at first for when they cost more gold, then later nerf them. That makes no sense to me, since they make no money off of gold anyways. Plus, the first update to Mei was actually to slightly buff her overall.

I agree. The spin does give you some great mobility. In the few games I’ve played you can chase and escape with it fairly well. It’s not a big damage dealing move that you think it can be though. You can cheese some camps with it surprisingly. Too bad we don’t have many maps or heroes to combo with it.
I kind of wish the spin was swapped with the shockwave ult. The spin would be a super fun ultimate meanwhile the shockwave is just okay as an ult.
