Do you remember any memorable games that were odd?

I’ve played a lot HOTS since Alpha, and the last years the games has been very odd due to the small player base which makes them very inconsistent in a proper way of playing it.

I personally like these games since it allows for a better decision making approach which is one of the things that HOTS needs from their players. Do you have any strange and weird games where it was wild, very fast paced, extremely tactical, or where the way it was played it was just odd but satisfying nonetheless?

I will share mines as I watch through my replays, for a Valla guide I’ve been “cooking” for some time.

I have a match where I told people “gg go next” because 3 of us were doing really poorly on BoE, and they started playing a lot better and we won; would that count?
And then today I told my teammates we should give a late game objective because we’re 4 vs 5… they didn’t listen, and we won the 4 vs 5 without any of us dying (and both teams were past lvl 20, so there was no advantage). How do people crop the vids to post them on streamable and link them here?

Yes that would count. Although I have a lot of games where for example the way were very close in terms of skill of both team where players had different views of the game that were so different but yet we did cooperate in order to win.

I had to be creative in the way I had to rotate, or what to do to create distractions in order win.

Can’t say I’ve thought of that much lately; I’m generally against ‘risky’ plays (both the all-ins with the team trying to get a fort/boss while enemies are alive, and the ones you describe, where you risk getting killed to create a 5 vs 4 scenario or something of that sort).

I’m trying to win matches slow and steady, with a strong emphasis on not dying unless it’s a very good trade. It’s probably not the optimal play, but it’s hard to guess how much you can rely on allies based on the few minutes you see them play. Sometimes enemies risk a lot to kill me and my allies capitalize on their dive to kill 2-3 of them making it a win (imo), other times my allies won’t notice me fighting next to them and I die for nothing.

I played a Cursed Hollow game last week where Nova complained that we didn’t lane or do camps. She was right, but she also proceeded to not take Covert Mission and take Triple Tap to ensure she couldn’t help out in that department. I was playing Yrel, and helped steal bosses out from under their team, twice. On the last one, we tried to take the core, but Li Li had gone to take the tribute so we all ended up dying to E.T.C.s Death Metal.
It was an odd game because I thought it was going to be a stomp with how much lane push power they had and we didn’t. We made it to 20 and had a fair shot at the core. We probably would have won if I had realized we weren’t all in on the core push. I took it as our desperate one chance, but I was probably wrong.

Just putting this here for my all time fav moment in Hots.

Playing a game of passive is fine in most games though.

But in some you are on a timer which means you have to risks or suffer the consequences later mainly late game scaled heroes.

You can win by just soaking and avoiding a disadvantage in the process but sometimes a risk is necessary, you don’t really need to do anything major other than kicking out 1 or 2 players for 30 seconds to allow yourself to push a fort free.

On the topic of weird games, playing my afternoon game in QM is kinda of a different hell of its own. Nothing makes absolutely sense to me or what the enemy is trying to do.

I mean the game is hella easy and smooth to sail through but makes me scratch my head wondering what lobby I stumbled upon. I see the most random of random deaths playing solo Q or duo.

Dunno, super off putting.

Well, I got my memorable game. Match 59960662 | Heroes Profile
Ticked all my boxes: more deaths on my team’s side, 2nd team to level 10 and lacking damage. Awfully long match where I die a lot late game and end up spectating what my team does. Somehow, we won.

I privatized the account this time.

You should go round my mother’s house if you want something cooked for you, she makes the best lasagna.

I’m not sure you should eat her cakes though.

Recently I was queued with a friend or two and we ended up in a match on Alterac with four Healers on the enemy team.

We won that pretty handily, but for the first 30 seconds I was really scared that they knew something that I didn’t.

What was your team composition?

What heroes were they playing?

Who were you and your friend playing at this battle?

Was it a long battle, how long did it take?

None of these maps/locations require a healer because none of them have an environment where they know their purpose is to heal, there should be at least one map/location where damage is certain, so there time isn’t being wasted and they should know this.

i remember a game of 20mn+ where i dodged most of hanzo’s Q so eventually he could never complete his lv1 quest
ofc it was for two third sheer luck and bad targeting but nonetheless very satisfying!

This post is confusing, I clicked it because I thought it was asking me if I remembered any games meaning video games or others other than HOTS that were odd.

The games inside HOTS are battles in my opinion and we should call them that.

I remember a really odd video game if you want to know:

It’s called Abe’s Oddysee and it’s really scary too, it’s about a guy which is working in a factory and needs to keep working or he may die or go to prison and if he tries to escape it the guards shoot him and there’s other fellow workers and the point of them is to try and rescue them but there should be a way in it to rescue your fellow workers and escape the factory without harming the guards but I couldn’t find a way.

There is one battle on my Youtube called “A Very Special match” where my team mates actually communicated during the draft and was a nice experience and that rarely happens for some reason, and we managed to make a team composition of all specialists when some of the heroes were called specialists, there wasn’t any strategy we just wanted to all be specialists, and I can’t think of a specific strategy right now which could guarentee a win/lose or draw.

2 days ago i met a Samuro in my team that was probably a mentally ill person. He was upset that our Azmodan decided to stay on a lane to push hard during the 1st objective, the outcome of that choice was that we won a fort and the other team didn’t manage to get anything valuable with their boss.

So instead of being happy, that Samuro started to complain in the chat and some of other players decided to explain how it was in fact a really good move and this guy decided to throw the game by afking the whole game, but he also tried to not get kicked out so he was on lanes, and was simply hitting something every 2min and insulting us constantly in the chat while taking care of soaking the less XP possible.

After a long game we finally won at the end in a real 4 vs 5. I have also thought it could also be a bot set like that, it was really really weird.
