Do Something About All of the Stuns

Dear Blizzard,

Do something about all of the obnoxious stuns that are in the game! For us casual players, that don’t play ranked, it is completely frustrating and not fun when you go up against a team that has every stun known to man on their team. It seems like in almost every game of quick match or ARAM, one team has at least 3-4 stuns (or more). My friend played in a game last night where his opponents had 8 stuns total…that is insane! We can’t plan for a counter because we can’t see what they’re picking. How is it fun when you go into a team fight, and you are then stunned repeatedly until you’re dead? Quick answer: it’s not! At least give a diminishing returns on stuns or something like that. I know this will fall on deaf ears since most of the support for this game is gone, but something needs to be done before more and more of us leave the game.

More like heroes of the slows, which is really just a symptom of poor and lazy game design from developers who either don’t care or have no idea what they’re doing.

For instance, with Tassadar’s rework. Take shockray for instance.

“Hmm, damages enemies in a straight line…that’s too boring. Just add a slow to it! Perfect!”

And this is basically their design philosophy for like 90% of the roster.

Diminishing returns would not work well in a game like HotS, unlike WoW pvp. Stuns already last a fairly short time, and they aren’t cheap and spammable as they are in WoW. In addition, most stuns are skill shots or very limited in range, so unless the enemy team is very coordinated, it is actually challenging to land a full stun chain.

Some tips for dealing with this:

  • If you are queuing in a group, make sure someone picks a hero with some form of cleanse. Although usually healers provide cleanses, there are a few others, such as Garrosh’s Into the Fray, that can help.
  • Don’t clump up whenever you can avoid it. Some of the more lethal stuns affect multiple heroes, so not clumping can mitigate the worst of it. Mosh Pit, Warlord’s Challenge, Jet Propulsion and the like are less lethal if they only hit one person.
  • Learn to stutter-step and move unpredictably. Very few stuns are point and click, and some such as Storm Bolt are fairly easy to juke. Don’t make yourself an easy target.
  • Watch your positioning. Point and click stuns typically have a very short range, so unless you are playing a melee hero, keep your distance from the Uther. For stuns that are skill shots, try and keep your tank between you and the hero that wants to lock you down. Worst case, the tank eats it, best case, the enemy holds their stun indefinitely, hoping to find you open.

Personally, I would like to see more healers have situational cleanses, such as Ana’s level 13 talents.

What they need is diminishing returns on cc effects.

They aren’t going to rework 3/4s of the roster which has some form of cc to accommodate the meta of stacking stuns for a lockdown comp. ARAM is a “for fun” mode, so for those of us who play it, we’re going to simply have to learn to love the way it works. It’s unfortunately really. It’s a good game the company completely abandoned because reasons.

It’d be nice to see them actually work on this, but I’ve grown cynical watching Activi$ion work over the last 10 years. Blizzard’s crew loves their games. The suits making the calls only care about the stock price.

Medallion was disliked and dismissed, that means stuns are fine. It’s most likely your positioning, where the problem is.

DR for already low stun durations compared to LoL/Dota2? No need it.

If Uther is the only healer in the team, and he takes the ultimate stun, then such Uther deserves a report.

I didn’t offer anything. I said something completely different, and not what thou imagined. And this is not an abuse of reports, but reality. Uther without bubble, it is essentially afk Uther. And this is a fact, regardless of whether thou agree with it or not.

Have you tried getting good?

If you’re casual and don’t play ranked, you shouldn’t run into stun lock comps very often.
And in ARAM you can’t really plan it so…

Be better at position yourself then DR dont even need to be added. But i know that is hard to do these days for most people who like to face check everything they see.

rather see this, but they go if said hero is stuned in the next X sec. some of the heal times are way to easy to bait out. then u can just stun and kill. if they added effects like gain X armor after stun for 1-2 sec, or gain X amount more health. would make killing harder, plus ana’s heals are a 2 sec cooldown.
