I think this talent is just, too good to not pick, it makes him the best stalling objective hero in the whole game, he can stall a cast so long that his team can come back, using at least 4/5(?) separate casts to achieve this.
As much everyone say you should spread out, this is not really the case for most maps?
For example, he can hit all heroes that are spread out channel the seed in Garden of Terror and hit all of them, I believe the interaction point hitbox should be the same size as the Cursed Hollow one too.
That case has an exception of course for Towers of Doom as the interaction hitbox for the altars are quite big that the channelers are more spread out so Deathwing cannot use a single cast to interrupt everyone channeling it not to mention the multiple altars that appear every so and then just like, same with Warhead.
Is this really intended? Yes, a lot of heroes can do it, but some of those can be blocked from casting their abilities, some can at least do it once (Azmodan), Mines can be destroyed, Chromie can be zoned out and tank her shots so the channeling can be completed.
But Deathwing? He can safely cast it stalling enough for his team to come back.
It’s 1 charge per 10 seconds, and it’s situationally good which means the other talents on that level have their benefits as well. Of the things DW could use some tweaks on, his level 7 talents wouldn’t even be on the list.
But that’s just my opinion from using him thus far.
You misunderstanding the amount of time you can stall an objective with one cast to disable everyone channeling from firing it right on the center of the tribute due how big is the hitbox is that everyone get hit.
So in the end, you end up with 4/5 in a short duration of 20 - 25 seconds stalling for everyone enough for his team to spawn and stop the tribute not to mention at that time he could be 100% HP full ready to land with World Breaker to stall it even more, this isn’t your typical Ana Eye of Horus where its a tiny line that can interrupt at least 1 out of the 3/4 people channeling the objective.
True. It’s impossible to get obj, like GoT or CH vs DW with meteor. As Sami mentioned, you can hit all people, who are charging obj, in same time by one hit. And you can do nothing with that.
It’s too good to be real. This meteor makes DW S+ tier in those 2 maps.
No kidding, it is! Even if I don’t use it for stall, I use it for quicker landing if needed or restore burst increments of HP. The spell shield is pretty crap too be honest and the other talent is pretty good, but doesn’t provide enough compared to said skyfall talent.
Skyfall is really nice, but you need vision to interrupt, which you often won’t have.
And there are maps where there’s no channels, so it already lost value.
So far to me Firestorm is the way to go because it gives Z cdr. And I pick Skyfall when I know I’ll be able to interrupt the obj.
All channel objectives provide vision for enemy team to cast vision required abilities, there are ton of Abathur slap memes on ToD and CH, GoT and so on because they provide vision for them to cast their stuff.
Oh, that is technically true, still I believe Score point/items type objectives (except Towers of Doom) makes this too good for him to be effective.
I should clarify I am not asking this to be deleted because thats how most of these topics end up in thinking OP wants this, I just want this to be adjusted as much as there are many things that Deathwing needs adjustment in, as expected in the upcoming balance patch.
While I can see the value from it, I still think that Death Drop is the best option for that tier. You reduce the spell armor of heroes you hit with your landing by 15 for 6 SECONDS. Plus you get to use your abilities faster after you lane.
I really think this talent gets much more value in any game than one that just stalls objectives that you probably already lost.
The stall is undeniable strong, my suggestion would be to change it to a single large meteor that deals 3x the damage, reduces landing cooldown by 3x and heals 3x however increase the charge cooldown by 3x but most important only one charge. The ability itself wouldn’t be less impactful but would reduce the stalling it causes.
Altar does give automatic vision (whoever channels it reveals himself automatically).
It isn’t possible to get a single altar alone vs DW if he keeps poking it. (Except by surprising him with a sanct/divine shield capture)
If he is really good he might even be able to stall 2 altars at once by panning the camera and only using the interrupt at the very last 0,1s of the channel.
Now that I think of it, he is a must ban on ToD.
He is actually a must ban on any tribute type map tbh, Cursed Hollow is a strong objective, stalling the tribute capture is quite insane for Deathwing with that talent.
Apparently they didn’t notice it would be that good, they replied to it on reddit. What is scarier is they actually missed this interaction when during their playtest the ability had an even shorter CD…
