So, I was on playing a game tonight when a thrall in my game started raging at me to leave “his” lane 2-3 min into the game. After asking why (as he was in the nexus after dying) the player then stated I should leave the lane then kill myself in real life. This person continued to harass me throughout the remainder of the game and then whispered me after the game and continued to harass me. All said and done I do believe there were at least 3 times this person stated I should kill myself and gave explicit examples of how it should be done. This does not include the MANY other inappropriate things this person said for about 30 minutes. I really wish there were automatic filters that screened words and insta-banned people for using them. It would really make for a much more pleasant experience.
I have already used the “reporting” system in HOTS, but this situation goes so far and above what this reporting system is going to do. This is 100% cyberbullying and is punishable by law. I want to get in direct contact with blizzard to have them get involved in the incident as the online cyberbullying sources state the owner of the online environment needs to be first contact. However, blizzard does not give a contact email for these situations.
Blizzard or anyone in the community, please respond with whom I can contact regarding this issue. And, Blizzard, I hope you as a company have taken a stand against this and will respond in a timely manner.
Side note: I think this community has great people in it, but is also full of ignorant people. People care more about winning a single match in this game than the safety of someone’s REAL life. Not once during this situation did anyone else say anything other than they just wanted to win. This in itself can show you the state of the game, the mindset of part of its community, and why many people do not play the game as often as they’d like. I’ve played several games online and never experienced harassment like I have with this game.

Block him. Problem solved.

Problem solved indeed.
So baffled as to how this solution avoids people like OP.

Absolutely wrong! And you both join the list of people that just do not get the point here.
I do not care about myself or blocking the person. This person is going to continue doing this. I really hope that someone doesn’t take it seriously enough to act upon it. Would you condone someone harassing your family member? Your significant other? Your parents? Your child? Would you handle this the same way if it were someone calling/texting/stopping by your house, etc? It’s the same crime, this just happens online where people feel invincible bc they have a screen name. This is a REAL CRIME, not pettiness. Blocking them doesn’t do anything but push the problem onto someone else.
If you support what this person is doing you are just as guilty as them.

You should call the Internet police on that guy, OP.

not helpful. There is no such thing. Your petty response just goes to show how helpless this HOTS community really is.

Oh get over yourself, dude. It’s the internet, people are jerks. I’m not excusing their behavior as acceptable because it definitely is not, I’m just calling you out for not handling the situation appropriately.
It’s common knowledge people act different on the internet when protected by anonymity than they would in real life, so making that comparison isn’t even remotely fair.
If you really felt this way about this situation, you would have submitted a ticket and kept this whole issue between you and the developers as it should be. Instead you post this whiny thread on general discussion for NO REASON in a desperate attempt for attention.

? Exactly how am I being a cyberbully @Harmonium?
These responses really are telling of the mindset of this community so far. Just useless, careless, and overall not helpful.
I am not sure to understand anymore

I think you read that wrong…
Anyways, if it’s related to kids, then ya its a big deal, but to adults it’s w/e. Just send in a ticket and talk to Blizz about it if its that important to you. Most kids are used to internet stupidity these days and are often the ones doing it.
It’s called life on the internet. You deal with it and move on. Do you think you can shield everyone from every offensive thing that happens in life?

I am absolutely not seeking attention. I really could care less about what you all think. I just want the information to contact Blizzard directly. If I could get this from some other place I would have. However, that doesn’t exist from what I have been able to find. If you’d be so helpful as to show me where I can get the contact information for blizzard I’d be appreciative.
Also, if you knew anything about the topic you would know that cyberbullying has lead to many deaths across the world. You apparently do not research anything before speaking out…seems true to this community. At the very least this should be supported to rid HOTS of toxic bullying, but it seems that all those complaints in games about toxic players and the poor reporting system were just a front bc you all seem to enjoy it and support it.

This isn’t in any way related to cyberbullying. Nice strawman, though.

Then you wouldn’t be posting this in general discussion. You could just click the giant “Support” button at the top right hand corner of the page and contact Blizzard directly. The fact that you brought this drama to a public forum leads me to believe that you are either A) A troll or B) An attention seeker. Or a combination of both.

As someone who’s been stalked by a creepy guy IRL, you really can’t compare some nasty troll in your game to someone looking for the real you.
It is uniquely horrifying when someone messages your phone (especially since you never gave him your number) asking if the home address he found is still your current one.

You didn’t hit the mute button and you call it cyber bullying? You sound melted, snowflake.

Oh boy, that escalated quickly
yea, you’re pulling some false-equivalency drama crap here. The capacity for the player to ‘harass’ you as so put is strictly in your capacity to so allow it: block and reports exist as are the means by which 'victim’s can ‘defend themselves’ from the content so expressed.
the extent of what you describe is not the ‘punishable’ by law of sort from what you’ve conveyed, and I’m honestly not sure you even know what that entails— which would be an odd turn given your concern of the ignorance of the community — as the basis for this person to ‘harass’ you, as so conveyed, would be on the basis that you didn’t
a) mute them
b) report them, thus auto-blocking them
c) disable whisper chat.
of what was conveyed, little is anything more than generalized rants that people do to skirt the “real life threat” verbatim and does no break down into multi-account whispers, out of game harassment, or anything more than that which could be handled by the tools provided.
Supposedly there may be cases in game that are of concern, but your’s seems thus far only in so much as you suggest it is by you essentially doing nothing.

Thank God those people also have the power to block someone.
