Crash Lightning

This is the ultimate noob trap talent.

A couple of times a year, I decide to give this baby a whirl to see if it’ll work. Optimal conditions. Small map. 2 lanes. Enemy team has a Samuro or a TLV or real heavy on the frontline. Plenty of brawling.

Nope. Still sucks donkey doodles compared to Echo of the Elements and Rolling Thunder. Synergizes with pretty much nothing else in Thrall’s upgrade tree except for Thunderstorm at 16.

Cherry on top is that it takes absolutely forever to complete this quest. I’m by no means a bad player, not the best, but not bad either. I do not usually manage to complete this quest when I pick it.

I say give this quest the same treatment as Illidan’s Unbound (W) at lvl 7 and straight up halve the quest’s requirements.

It’s the ultimate ARAM talent, good for padding up stats, which is not all the time useless/inflated damage.

But just to make clear, are you talking about as a solo laner or as 4-man? Only 4-man Thrall (as a melee assassin) goes Crash Lightning so.

I’m saying it’s bad in every situation. I don’t really play ARAM much so I hadn’t considered that.

That said, picking Crash Lightning as offlane Thrall would make a dead talent even deader.

I would figure as such. I have little experience on it myself (my brain seems to be hardwired to pick range assassin most of the time now, when not picking tank, healer, solo laner). Not halved, but I would like it if it became 20 or something.

its a pretty good talent in volskya where stacking is easy and youll probably do full damage every time.
thrall in general is struggling a bit tho so that may be part of why you see the talent that way.

It depends on comp and map. If you know you brawl more than soaking, then it’s good, otherwise it’s Bad.

Like someone said it’s great in aram.

Good for 4 men when other player soaks.
Bad otherwise.

I had even some high ranked games where I was Thrall in the 4men, and played it in QM as well. I always finished this quest. It’s hard, but imo really strong. I don’t want to see changes to it. If ppl don’t like it they have 2 other options, no need to change all 3 around the taste of a group.

Crash Lightning is the talent that single handily makes Thrall high tier in ARAM. Unless the enemy team has multiple healers it alone can cancel out most of the healing of a single healer, and wreck squishy heroes.

I main thrall.
If your in the teamlane and the enemy team lacks a reliable support its good. My only thing is that the lightning is really random

But right now rolling thunder is just tha best

I actually did the math on the Crash and Echo to see which did more damage. I made a youtube video on it but I don’t want to go watch it so I’ll guesstimate the conclusion. First off, you have to assume you complete Crash at an early stage so taking it under optimal circumstances and assuming you hit two bounces for all casts. Crash works out to more damage up to level 20 where it breaks even. Every level thereafter, two casts of echo do more damage. I should also say, that every level after 20 gets more lopsided for Echo and every decreasing level under 20 Crash is better going down. This assumes Crash is finished and it is hard to do faster than say level 13 or so even in the best of circumstances.

However, you have to remember, the initial target of crash takes NO bonus damage ever, it is only the bounces. So casting it on a wall or building and having it jump to heroes is a great option. Also, if you take the bonus damage after casting a spell on auto attacks, it is echo all day.

With such limited value for Crash, I can’t see a lot of circumstances where it is better than Echo. You do get synergy in cool down reduction at 4, but that also synergizes with Echo even more.

I like to differentiate between them like this.
Echo is the survivability talent sense 2 charges means more trait procs and more Ancestral Wraths.
While Crash is just a lot of raw damage thats good on maps with prolonged fights in areas where minions wont interfere. Its also not as great against tankier teams because both other talents offer good % damage but against squishier teams it can do some work.

This also assumes that Echo is finished, which requires some time during which Thrall might be acting sub optimally (having to kill minions with chain lightning).

Also this assumes burst damage only, since Echo does not allow Thrall to cast Chain Lightning faster, only save up a cast to cast 2 in quick succession. Crash lightning offers sustained damage improvements always. Or are you trying to tell me that the extra charge also means it refunds 2 charges per cooldown?

Crash lightning also allows the bounces to prioritise heroes. Echo still has problems with minion, merc or monsters distracting the bounces.

Unless Echo gives 2 charges per cooldown (which if it does, is not clear in the tooltip), they will average the same.

Are you sure you are not confusing Rolling Thunder for Echo of the Elements? Rolling Thunder is very competitive since not only does it add an extra bounce to chain lightning, but it gives bonus percentage damage and percentage heal for auto attacking the targets. The extra bounce will also proc the trait faster.

Echo of the Elements does not offer any percentage damage.

Or they could make it so every hero it hits after the second gives a stack too. It’s weird that you can only get one stack max per cast.

Echo of the elements will stack ancestral Wrath faster then ther other 2 options.

How? It does not decrease cooldown, it does not given extra bounces, it does not give extra Frostwolf Resilience. If anything Rolling Thunder would stack it faster since it gives chain lightning and extra bounce.

You get to cast caun lightning twice with echo

How about Gul’Dan Dark Bargain talent at 13 gives hp and upon dying increases death timer. The same can be said for The Lost Vikings Ship that nobody pick unless mid bronze tier player.

In my expeirnce the kind of player who picks that talent on Gul’dan are the sort who die 10 times a match. It’s very frustrating, that and the talent where he receives 25% less healing. I always get the Gul’dan who takes the healing reduction talent when I’m playing Healer and he is terrible at managing his trait!

It always bugs me when they take that talent while im playing a healer whos all about biiig heals. Its like they are undoing my strength.
