Could HotS use more evil/dark supports?

With rumors of yet another goody-two-shoes holy light slinging hero in the form of Anduin, I thought this would be an interesting topic to discuss. Could hots use more evil supports? I would really love to see more truly evil healers of some sort in this game.

I don’t necessarily mean lorewise but rather in playstyle and flavor. I.E. Whitemane is considered evil in lore but her kit doesn’t have that darkness/evil feel to it. You feel more like a hero than a villain when you’re calling upon holy light to heal allies and burn foes.

All we have is Stukov (1 out of 16 supports), and although his kit definitely has a dark-ish flare to it, more often than not, it feels like a science-y type healer with all the chemical reactions on his trait and talents. The rest of the support roster heals their comrades with the power of nature, light, and medicine.

One of my favorite games I’ve been playing outside of Heroes of the Storm is Battlerite, in which I also main healers. My main champion is a healer named Pestilus, a grotesque monstrosity that uses parasites, insects, and dark magic to harvest life from enemies and funnel it into his allies.

The main mechanic his character revolves around is fear (much like gul’dans but not as powerful since it’s a basic ability). I always thought it would be interesting to have fear as a mechanic in this game. Probably his most interesting mechanic is his Infest, which allows him to disperse into a cloud of parasites and infest either an ally (healing them, boosting their damage, and reducing damage taken) or an enemy (draining their health, lowering their damage, and increasing damage taken).

All of this just works to give a unique experience that makes you feel like a dark master, a villain, a puppeteer who controls the battleground with chaos. Extraordinary! So who are the likely candidates for this games?

Belial (Diablo) - Lord of Lies. This character could go many different ways. I’d love to see him as a support that uses deception and dark magic to confuse enemies and give allies tactical advantages on the battleground.

Old Gods (Warcraft) - Any one will do. C’thun, Yogg Saron, N’zoth, Y’shaarj, doesn’t matter. Possibly our first core replacement hero, though if that mechanic proves too difficult to implement you could just have a host/avatar of the old god (similar to how Yogg Saron uses a vrykul avatar, Sara, to interact with mortals).

Moira (Overwatch) - Simple as it gets. I feel her kit would translate into a moba like HotS perfectly. Her vibe is exactly what I’m looking for; draining life from enemies to transfuse into allies. Sucking the life out of enemies with her orb, beam, and auto attack.

Have I missed any other potential characters? Who else would make a fantastic dark/evil healer?

We certainly could. And more evil characters in general. We still don’t have any Talon character and only one WoW demon.

I know Samisha Would love to see Moira in the game.

I think it’s their most requested hero.

I’ve always wondered if Adria from Diablo would work.

Excellent. Completely forgot about her.

HotS could use more supports period.

Moira would translate over perfectly into HotS. Game definitely needs more support heroes. It’s my favorite category, but it’s so small. I can’t really think of any besides those you mentioned as an “evil/dark” support in playstyle. Blizzard unfortunately gives their healing characters stereotypical backgrounds.

the other moira isn’t necessarily evil, but she is a shadow priest :3c and she generally holds dark iron-ish views such as, say, the desire to publicly execute political enemies by putting them in an arena filled with vicious beasts

I want a support who throw salt for Healing you. Salt in the wound heal xxx of missing health, perfusion take life from other to give it to someone else etc.

Overmind, Kil’Jaeden, Moira, Queen Azshara (she treats her teammates like puppets), Arcturus Mengsk, Ba’al, Lillith, WoW Succubus, Twin Eredar, Troll Shadow Hunter, Troll Witch Doctor, Zerg Defiler, Zerg Infester, Zerg/Protoss Hybrid (I actually would really like this), any of the Old Gods, C’thun/N’zoth/Yogg Saron.

I don’t think she would really fit as a support though. She never really helped anyone except Diablo. She sold magic gear, that was about it.

She’d more fit a tank/summoner, going by her fight.

Honestly, I feel any Warcraft Hero that is a practitioner of Fel Magic could fulfill that role. Hell, maybe even Putress if he ever makes it to the Nexus. Perhaps he could
“corrupt” people with blight or something and then his healing powers only work on those that are afflicted by it. The “corruption” theme could come into play for a lot of Dark Support imo.

i always get “putress” & “putricide” confused and i’ve gotta say, putricide would be pretty funny as a healer

“GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE! I’ve perfected a plague that will destroy all life in the Nexus!

Oh— you wanted me to restore life? Now don’t be silly, I can’t do that unless you’re dead first! (:”

Putricide would be perfect honestly, probably because he’s a Dr. Farnsworth clone.

Kinda falls into the same category as stukov with the whole science vibe, but I could definitely see some creativity to be shown here.

The last hero concept I did was for putricide actually that revolved around his Q, W, and E, all being chemicals that can me mixed for different effects.

I wanna see Aldaris. yes, Karax is a nice guy who fix stuff and have a cool stone beard, but Aldaris is the dark in the light, he wanna do the best for his race, at any cost.

Ah I knew it felt funny when I typed “Putress” lol. I’ve never noticed it written, only spoken from guildies and whatnot.

The general idea with him would be to basically corrupt someone to where something that’s catastrophic to life would actually HEAL them. It wouldn’t be the main intent of such a plague but it could be more like:

Putricide: “So you want me to save you?”
Ally: “YES PLEASE!”
Putricide: “Ok… Well if you take this potion I can heal you with some Forsaken magic I’ve been experimenting with…”
Ally: “Oh… Ok… Well you are a Professor right?”
Putricide: “Of course! Now shut up and take the potion fleshling!”
Ally: quaffs potion “Wha… What have you done!?”
Putricide: “You’ve been given the gift of undeath now have some blight and rotten flesh and you’ll feel fine! Tastes just like milk and cookies!”
Ally: silently love hating the blight and rotten flesh “Whatever let’s kill Genji already >.>”

Ok this actually seems cool if you can actually mix the abilities for a desired effect. Sort of like how Valeera has two skill bars based on stealth or non stealth but the chemicals would do a check to see what is present and add another effect that would either replace the others or augment them.

Well, you have BW, shes a Dark character by lore. But I understand the point… I’d like (tho this will be an unpopular opinion) an incubus. You know, the counterpart to the succubus from WoW, but we’d finally get to see one. Other than that, making an Old God a support/healer would be a dream, my favorite wow characters and my favorite class together. :3

I’m totally cool with them adding Mengsk sr. as the “not a good guy” support.
