Click-through minimap?

Where did this option go to??
Only a ‘smart minimap’ is available, but it still interfers with left clicks … keep click on the map instead of executing abilities as a result, which throws me off the fight.

Any possibility to enable complete click-through on the minimap anymore?

By default, left-clicking on the mini-map is used to position your camera, to quickly see what is going on in another part of the map. If you have movement bound to your left-click, rather than your right click, it is actually camera behavior you have to change, which feels counter-intuitive.

By memory (and I could be wrong, it has been quite a while since I set things), go to Hotkeys, not Options, Advanced, and in the list on the right, Hero Management (or something like that) should be at the top of the list. When you expand that, there should be settings for the minimap camera behavior. Unbind the left-click from that, and you should be good to go.

I have my minimap camera bound to my middle mouse button, because I find it incredibly useful to use the minimap to move my camera around, especially on heroes with global movement or abilities. I couldn’t play Dehaka without being able to move the camera instantly like that.

i know what all these words mean, and I’ll probably go “oh, that!” after hearing more details/seeing an example…

But I have absolutely no idea what you’re describing right here.

Ha ha!

Let’s see if I can word it better, as it is almost impossible to show in a video since it is all just mouse clicky stuff.

By default, you can see the border of the visible area of the map on the mini-map as a rectangle. If you left-click on the mini-map, the rectangle immediately recenters on that position, so your “main” screen is now showing that area, even though your hero can be anywhere else. I prefer to watch the action when I am dead, rather than the spot I died or the empty Hall of Storms, so I am often clicking around on the mini-map to see what is going on everywhere else.

If you rebind your mouse buttons to use left-click to move, rather than the default right-click, left-clicking will still move the rectangle around on the minimap, so you have an area of the screen where you can’t path until you move such that the minimap isn’t blocking it any more. Unbinding left-click from camera placement fixes this, but then it means you have to manually scroll from your current camera location to see other parts of the map on your “main” screen.

This is a problem with a hero like Dehaka, because I want to see where I plan to go, not where I am, and I don’t want to take an hour to see that, dragging my camera the slow way on a large map. By binding the camera control (the rectangle placement) to my middle mouse button, sometimes known as the scroll wheel, I can use that to see other parts of the map, while still having movement or attack-movement commands on my other mouse buttons.

Edit: Re-reading that, I probably made things worse. >.<

yup…
but i’m also more drunk than before… so… just blame the alcohol.

BUT IT IS TRULY ALL HOKU’S FAULT!

the real issue that causes this is the fact that “QEWR” somehow managed to become the default hotkeys.

I use ASDF, mostly because it gives me access to far more keys–it is much easier to move your fingers up to hit both QWER and 1234 than it is to move your fingers down from QWER to hit asdf/zxcv.

Basically I think the problem (I stll don’t fully understand why you fix is necessary (probably because i don’t understand the fix at this moment LOL)) is due to the prevalence of whomever did default hotkeys for LoL deciding that QWER was a good idea over ASDF.

I recall some friends on dota wc3 using custom keys for QWER… but i recall a few friends did have other (not ASDF) setups. So I think it is LoL + the popularity it got + snowballying from DOTA2 that ruined it. ._.

I bet my post is more confusing than yours! I hope I lose. How much do you want to bet?
P.S. I’m not clarifying if being more or less confusing in the winning condition. I need an accepted bet and a note on which is more/less confusing first.

Have another drink, brah.

:stuck_out_tongue:

But if my post confuses Syrnis, or other people comment, or you still find it confusing after sleeping it off, I will try again with pictures. Words aren’t working!

I probably won’t see it until some 12-16 hours of work, so my brain might be worse off XD

gotta laugh at some people at work “what time will you be working next”… “when i wake up” lol!

But I suspect once i check out the hotkey/option in game I’ll probably go, well…

That’s OK, I am going to play “go outside” for a while (a responsible 6 feet apart, of course), so I won’t be responding for a while myself. As in me myself, not MySelf…

I thank that minimap click won’t see it until can found new Storm League for Tank & others I want for these heroes.

I don’t have left click for walking, but rather a lot of my abilities are on manual cast instead of quick casting. It gives me more sense of control over my actions.
But sometimes when chasing enemies who are heading to the right bottom, they are too far in the corner and when clicking to execute my ability, I sometimes accidentally click in the minimap … which throws me off.

I know most of it is just a matter of better camera positioning.

Also, your suggestion was right.
In the hotkeys menu: Advanced > Hero Management > Move minimap
There I managed to remove the left click mouse button as an actor, which keeps the middle mouse button (wheel) as only key.
This will help me a lot!

Thank you, Hoku

LOL!

I do the same thing! So when people are like, “I hit my R”, I have to look up what button that is by default lol.

Additionally, I have this set up as well because my fingers can quickly and naturally find the homekeys so my hands never lose their way around the keyboard when I’m playing.
