What is the best chromie build? I’ve had a lot of success with W build, even though Q build seems to have a much higher winrate I can’t really make it work. I spend so much time trying to line up a perfect shot, I tend to end up not finishing my Q quest for longer than if i just spammed it on cooldown.
-
Mounting Sand
-
Timely Surprise
-
Dragon’s Eye or Chrono Sickness
-
Either, I prefer SSoT
-
Here and There or Time Out
-
Quantum Overdrive or Shifting Sands. QO works better with Loop, and SS works better with SSoT
-
Situational, otherwise pick Andorhal Anomaly.
under ideal circumstances? …and assuming you have perfect aim? the Q build is best.
basic Q build talents here:
https://www.heroesfire.com/hots/talent-calculator/chromie#hE7T
1 Q,
2 and 5. traps for CD and Slowing. easier to catch ppl.
14 Q spell power. which wont mean as much at 14 but will at 18.
18 Q piercing which will synergize with 14 and you will get lots of spell power.
now… if you have a problem with her skillshot?
go W. it does a good chunk of damage and your team will still love you.

this is what i normally do for W build. unless there is an obvious advantage to taking her other ult. like a closed in area objective. (Volskaya… Cursed Hollow…etc.). her multi traps she can place to make life easier or you can also take Piercing Sands if they really dont have any dive.
You really couldnt have used the Chromie thread Samisha created not so long ago, could you?
The “best” Chromie build can be argued about. Personally I’d go full time trap build with Mounting Sand level 1, Shifting sands 14, Here and there level 11, but that could be considered ‘Advanced Chromie’, so to speak, because it is more difficult. But once you git gud at Chromie then this offers so much more utility and power.
If you are new to Chromie, I would recommend:
Level 1: Timewalker’s Pursuit (So you can scout ahead and what not, check if the enemy is doing boss or mercs and prevent bush-ambushes.)
Level 2: Draconic Barrage (The Q-AA upgrade talent)
Level 5: Chrono Trigger. This talent is very useful as a defensive mechanic. Having the cooldown reduced by half, from 18 to 9 seconds, is a big difference. The added slow can make the difference between escaping an enemy hero or being caught despite time trapping said hero. The slow also makes it easier to hit your Q/W on him.
Level 8: Temporal Loop. This ult is the strongest in most situations, especially once you’ve become an adept Chromie and you pick Timely Surprise.
Level 11: Depending on what kind of match you got. If you’re in a normal match with tanks and healers, then go for Time Out. The weakness of Time Out is that, unlike Jaina and Nazeebo, so can Chromie do barely anything once she comes out of her Stasis, which means Time Out is essentially an ability where you tell your team “You’ve got 5 seconds to chase away these baddies trying to kill me! Saaaave me!” Which is less likely to happen and be of value when there’s only assassins and specialists. However Bye-Bye’s weakness is easy interrupts; if the enemy is full of short or semi short stuns, silences or knockbacks and you’ll have a hard time to get any BB’s through. A Li Ming with Wave of Force is particularly annoying; Long range, large area (easy to hit) knockback, coupled with her high damage and skillshots that are pretty easy to hit on a Chromie intending to BB out.
Once you become much better at Chromie and can reliably have Sand Blast quest done before (or close to 11), then Here and There is a really strong & fun talent that brings so much utility to the table.
Level 14: Shifting Sands. It is overally better and can potentially reach 40% additional spelldamage compared to Quantom Somethingsomething’s 25%.
In a Healerless/tankless game, Quantom one might be more ideal, since fights wont last that long that you can’t expect to get all that many consecutive sand blasts off.
Level 18: Andorhol Anomaly. Combined with Chrono Trigger at level 5 and it provides a very powerful defense tool (and offensive). And once you become really good at doing Time Trap combos, then adding the level 2 Timely Surprise makes Andorhol Anomaly really crazy.
