A bit offtopic but I think it deserves to be mentioned xD

If you don’t know who Pewdiepie is you must live under a rock.

I was thinking about posting this here myself, but since it has absolutely nothing to do with HotS, I feared it’d be flagged as advertisement. I hope it won’t happen to you, @Op, but I might take it off from here if I were you. Tho that’s me.

I hope that Carbot being basically financed by Blizzard at this point will make this “relevant” enough.

Mods are free to remove the thread if I’m mistaken.

Trust me, it’s a rock worth living under in a world where nearly billions of people worship this guy.

Oh c’mon I have yet to see “worshippers” who take this seriously.

T-Series and Youtube brought this on themselves, they embody the creator vs company fight in the platform.

Yes, this is true, (on both counts) yet still doesn’t change the fact too many people watch this guy.

i doubt the dude cares that much about other creators. he just doesn’t want to lose his spot

i see folks posing this whole thing as David vs Goliath, but that doesn’t exactly work when david has been the king of the hill since 2013

Myself only subscribed to him when I noticed his demonetising by the media, ppl taking his dark and sarcastic jokes seriously for the sake of views, reads and money.
And I keep my subscribtion for meme purposes and to keep him in his Throne which I think he deserves no matter if ppl enjoy his content or not.

Quite the contrary, he always said that he wouldn’t mind losing the first spot. With T-Series he just embraced the meme and went on with it because he finds it fun. What boosted the battle is more the community.

It’s not that he cares for other creators, he just represents them and he is a rather good person. You don’t have to like him, it’s a matter of personal taste.

I got to know him when he was still making horror gameplays only and I sticked with him since then because I find him fun and he used to show me games I’d have never have played myself because I wouldn’t look for them.

For people that are confused, watch this video:

This is probably the most comprehensive way to look at why people take this seriously … and why I don’t really care anyways.

There’s a Game Theory episode behind that btw. The reason why PewDiePie was able to get subscribers was because he unknowingly utilized YouTube’s recommendation algorithm.

If you look at the video, it describes how PewDiePie lived in multiple countries and as he went to each country he was able to gain followers, and soon enough a snowball effect happened where he shot up in subscriber numbers.
